I keep hearing about how good the tins of 4 bean mix is for people. The 4 bean mix is kidney beans, lima, chickpea & a fourth I can't identify. I bought a tin the other day. The problem is, I don't really know what recipe is good with 4 bean mix? I don't really want to heat them up & put them on toast. There has to be some recipes more interesting than that. So would anyone have a recipe for using & including 4 bewan mix? It needs to be low fat. Thanks in advance.

I am from the USA and am only guessing but could the fourth bean be a black bean? In the USA we have a three or four bean salad which is served cold. Here is the recipe. 1 can green beans 1 can kidney beans 1 can chick peas or garbonzo beans and optional 1 can yellow wax beans. 1/2 onion diced 1 bell pepper Vigar and oil salad dressing. I use a bottled dressing like Frenchs Zestis Italian Salad dressing. Drain and rinse the beans in a colonder. Place beans, onion, green pepper in the bowel. Add salad dressing enough to cover the beans. I refrigate for 2 hours before severing. I like it left over it is better the next day. If you want it low fat then get or make a low fat Italian salad dressing. I know that is not what you where asking but us American's always have to put our two cents in. LOL

I am sorry were not used to your kind of recipes. As you might know Indian cookery is far more of a different nature and especially those of our south Indian delicacies tend be very spicy.

Here is a recipe that is a little different. I have not tried it but my boyfriends sister has and she loves it. I'm not even sure if I want to try it.lol. 4 bean burgers(it makes three small patties) 1 125 can of 4 bean mix lightly mashed 1/2 teaspoon of cummin 2-3 onion rings diced 2 button mushrooms 1 eggwhite lightly beaten tablespoon of wholemeal bread crumbs Add chilli powder for spice, or some salsa for something different. #1 Saute onion and mushroom #2 add to bowl all ingredients and mix, add and change stuff to taste and texture #3 make into small patties #4 add some oil to fry pan and cook untill brown either side Serving suggestion: My boyfriends sister made a lettuce leaf wrap out of this with tomato, cucumber, baby spinach, capsicum and natural yogurt.

I would use it in chili. Satisfying and made in a crockpot would be the best and become yummy. You can control the amount of fat easily. Good luck using these sooo good for you vegetables. Happy eating.

I usually just put my beans in a large pot with a ham bone. or ham shank. I add some salt, garlic powder, pepper. add onions. and cook till beans are done. I serve this with cornbread. I never heard of putting beans on toast.

I haven't had 4 bean mix, but it sounds good. I love beans. You could try seasoning them with whatever spices you like, and mashing them up, heating them up in a skillet with a light oil coating and eating them in a pita shell with toppings. I've made bean patties using kidney beans like this, and they were surprisingly good.

I have to be honest and say that I don't eat any of these beans. I am not a vegetable person and somehow beans seem to come into that picture. :P
