Why did Dumbledore trust Snape?

Why do you think Dumbledore always trusted Snape? Even though Harry always told Albus how he worried about Snape once being a Death Eater, the old wizard seemed not to heed this until such time he was killed. something BIG must have happened some time ago; for him to trust Severus like that... I wonder what it is?

Actually, it was never said in the books. In fact, it's the opposite of his explaining why he trusts Snape. He wouldn't tell anyone, as, I believe, Lupin explains. And I still believe that Snape is good, and that Dumbledore made Snape kill him, so that Draco would not become a murderer. I'm really excited to see how the whole plot works out in book 7, whether Snape earns back redemption, how he does it, and whether people find out if he was good or evil. A lot of people believed that Snape turned to the Order of the Phoenix after Voldemort killed Lily, or when it became apparent that he was going to go after the Potters because Snape loved Lily, but there is actually nothing in canon to support this fact. I guess we're just going to have to wait until book 7 to get the answers.

DUmbeldore never revealed to anyone what happened for him to trust Snape, I couldn't even fathom a guess lol I think the next book will involve Snape a lot, it will be hard for him to redeem himself after everyone knows he called Dumbledore (which I, like many others, believe was in Dumbledores plans). Perhaps Snape was never truly a Deatheater and had been working for Dumbledore the whole time? There's so many theories out there that it's hard to choose which one may be the correct one. Can only say bring on July! :)

I sort of figured Snape was up to no good since the start of it. It was pretty sad what Snape did to Dombledore in book 6. I hate to see what he is going to be up to in this final book.

I think Dumbledore trusts Snape so much simply because he's been rather loyal to him, reporting to him what Voldemort is up too, helping the school, helping other teachers, and even helping Harry when he really needed it the most, even if he was one of the most revolting teachers Harry has ever had to put up with. I think he trusts him so much because his actions are speaking louder than his words. Plus, I don't think Dumbledore wants someone, especially someone as young as Draco to be a murderer, when it's clear he really doesn't want to commit the act because he simply can't bring himself to do it. Someone has to do it, because I believe Dumbledore is kind of ready to die. He's old, he's been thru so much, it's just his time and he knows it. He can't carry Harry any further, he has to figure things out on his own for once. It's going to be Harry's time to step up and shine. And, what better way to go, than in battle, standing up for what you believe in, at the hand of a trusted friend?
