Pain from gripping the iron with your hand?? You could be getting arthritis...try taking some aspirin or ibubrofen just before you iron to help alleviate the pain...also would be a good idea to see a doctor. My fingers on my right hand get sore..thought it might be Carpal Tunnel..turns out to be a nerve in my back that was damaged..and it affects my whole right arm.

I don't iron most of my clothes.I just take them out of the dryer at the right time and hang them up. Sometimes I iron delicate fabrics or tablecloth but I never had pain in my hands. Do you iron for long stretches? Maybe you should take little breaks in between, do some excersises with your hands, take a little walk or have a cup of tea to relax a bit.

I don't iron my clothes. I just hang them and hope the creases come out. I hate ironing.

The only prevention you can take is that at a time do not iron lots of clothes. Iron them in short span. That is how I manage.
