Are coupons worth the trouble?

With the rise of store "valued customer cards" are coupons even worth the trouble? I seem to spend more on stuff I don't necessarily need because I have a coupon for it, or I buy a brand that isn't my favorite.

I think they are worth the trouble. If it helps lowering the cost of my bill, then every little helps. Only valued customer cards I use are Kroger and Food Lion. I like Kroger better, because I can get 3-10 cents off at there gas pumps. With gas prices being so high, I like saving there as well. I only get what I need, and if I have a coupon for those items, then I get to save. I send off for coupons, since I don't get the paper, or most stores won't accept print out coupons anymore, which stinks. Certain things I wouldn't even buy if I had a coupon for and I was out of that item. If I don't need that item or don't use it, I will throw the coupon away. That's just how I am.
