Pain down the left side of my lower left leg from my knee joint, worse at night

I have a semi chronic pain down the left side of my lower left leg from my knee joint. I had it ever since I took some fat reducing package for weight loss. My husband took it, but he has arthritis anyway. My leg hurts mostly at night but is okay if I walk and stand. Do you suppose that what I took may have had any bearing? I also cannot run for any length of time - not that I was able to before, but I do have a slow metabolism. I want to know what causes this and anything I can do to relieve it. I do not want to slow down.

It really sounds like you have some inflamation in the siactic nerve,it is something that i have had before it is like it rotates from the hip down the leg and to the knee.It can happen when the weather changes, and also it can just get bad when you happen to move a certain way.I went to the doctor with mine, and it does not show in an xray..My doctor gave me some anti inflamatories and it went away, so maybe that is what it is..Mine just came on me all of a sudden and it was just chronic pain and so maybe you should try that.I don't think that it could have been weight loss pills,it probably just happened around the same time you were taking them...

thanks for replying back to my response, now what you said, is giving me an Idea of what I should do. The doctor did tell me to take some Ibprofien, not sure if I am spelling it right, but It suppose to take the inflammation out if you take the pills for 10 days, that is what the doctor, told me, It helped for a little while, but that was it. maybe I will half to get surgery I don't think I want those, shots, corezone shots.

It is probably that. I do not want to take medication other than aspirin. I will try to do some exercises and look up how I can relieve it. It is okay when I walk, but when I sit down for some time, it is sore.

those shots only work for a while they do nothing but mask the problem.I took the shots as long as they worked but finally they quit working...

I get that kind of pain too, It is Arthritis that I have, I went to Orthepedic Doctor, then he said that all my Caridges are gone in my knee, I have nothing but bone there. No kind of of cushsion, and my knee cap is roughing my bone, it is so painful, when standing or walking a long time, I am taking theraphy but it helps a little, another thing this nurse told me to lose some weight, and I would feel better. weight could has something to do with it too, if you are heavy. I weigh 210 lbs, and I am only 5'3" so I think that has something to do with my situation. I hope some of these answers help you. Have a Happy New Year!

You know my knee did the same thing , it was rubbing bone to bone..My orthepedic doctor told me that nothing will help because when it is bone to bone you have no cushion left. You could lose weight but that is not going to get rid of that condition...Therpy will not help either most of the time it makes it worse...I had to have a knee replacement in October of this year, and it was great, i did wonderful and that awful pain is not there anymore..I am not heavy at all and as you say you may want to lose weight but i do not think it will do anything for your knee.Once the padding between those bones in your knee is gone , nothing can help except a new knee..

I think it could be sciatica in my case. I have had it before, and it could be weight related. I have gained some weight and I am also 5 foot four. I do not think that my knee cap is roughing my bone, and it hurts less when I am walking. It is only when I press my finger against my knee and it is tender to the touch.

well since you said that it happened when or while taking the fat reducing substance..if i were you then i have to consult a doctor right away so that thepain will be taken care of and maybe do some lab tests ..whatever the advice of the doctor..slow in metabolism usually occur when we are in our 30's that what i have learned and a great factor of this is when we try to go on diet in a wrong way just to reduce some weight..

I am large boned, and I have inherited a double chin from my father, so I have to lose weight. I have a slow metabolism and I cannot move all the time. I will have to look up to see if I can fix this without having to take a lot of medications.
