What do you think Earth will be like in the future?

How will our ethics and morals have changed? What state will the Government be in? What extent of damage will pollution have done to our planet? What possibilities will advances in technology have given us? Will we still have countries at war with one another? Will we even still exist? Give a time frame with your answer, ex. -'In 100 years...'

I'm pretty sure that in the 21st century there will be just as many changes in our world as there were in the 20th century. During the 20th century morals and ethics started with the Victorian era beliefs and ended with the liberal ideas we know today. During the 21st I look for a reversal back to the more conservative. How much more outlandish and liberal can we get than we are now? I see China taking over as world power. The United States has deteriorated a long ways since 1900, and the only president we've known in the 21st century has done his best to take our status in the world down to record lows. I think that Hispanics will eventually overrun the US and eliminate the border completely bringing the US down to the status of Mexico and taking it out of the world power game. Many people who write on mylot think that India will be a world power, but I don't think that will happen. Any society that still oppresses women like they do can never be a big player on the international scene. Countries have been at war almost since time began. It won't stop. The only problem in the 21st century is that more and more countries will develop the capabilities of destroying other countries, and someone may get trigger happy which would set off WWIII and bring an end to humanity. Hopefully, for the sake of my grandchildren, this won't happen. The way things are going now, I don't see much hope for the world. There are so many problems now, and the only way we're going to turn things around is by electing strong, honest leaders -- and where are we going to get those?

Wow! what a great response. I do agree with some of what you said. I believe China will be the most powerful country instead of the US in the future. They are becoming economically strong and having a strong miliary as well. Technology is increasing at such a fast pace. Look at how much we accomoplished in just 50 years. I believe, that space travel will become more common. It has already started and rich people have already paid thousands of money to go up in space.

I think that in less than 100 years, the earth will be very over populated and polluted so bad, it will be impossible to live on it. Morals and ethics are getting worse on a steady diet daily. Or, we will have that final war, and the entire earth will be exploded and gone. A very sad future ahead a fear.

Thank you for your response~ You bring to mind a possible HUGE dilemma..With the weapons of the greatest mass of destruction we hold upon the surface of this planet, that of which we know can blow it up many times over..Will that possibility ever become our last reality~? Good discussion -right there!

I agree as technology continues to advance, more and more electronic (or alternative powered) 'things' will continue to replace much of what we do or have done manually in the past.. People used to work physically hard to live..farming the land, etc...As time goes on, machines and all sorts of technology are replacing what we used to do ourselves. The Internet has even replaced shopping, paying bills, schooling, work, etc...Many do not even have to step outside their homes to do what used to be a real 'job' in the old days...Meanwhile, we are sitting more, getting more overweight and atrophied...having to go to the gym and exercise like hamsters on a wheel to accomplish the healthful benefits of what was once just everyday life~ Advances in medical tech. are allowing people to live longer despite our more unhealthy habits and world around us.. I do agree the 'era' of flying automobiles is a bit far-fetched yet...Maybe we will live in colonies in space stations first. That's just what the universe needs! -our contaminating pollutants drifting further into outer space! We already have a bunch of 'junk' orbiting the earth from our satellites, etc.. I guess my big question still is HOW will we ever learn to live in peace with one another~? Despite all our advances as a species, there will not be one single advance for us period if we cannot live amongst each other.. Like technology itself...The computer is great and can do unbelievable things, until someone simply pulls the plug~

in 100 years I think the Earth will pretty much be the same. A century is just a tick of the clock in global terms. I think people will pretty much be the same -- people seldom, if ever, change.

the earth will shake us humans off like a bad case of fleas. we may make a small dent in our environment - large enough to kill ourselves off, however - but the earth will continue on without us, just like it did before us.

I agree that we can only speculate, and on an individual basis, it is not in our hands..But all of us as a 'whole', i believe, have a Huge impact on the future outcome...TY 4 your response!

That's a good question - The classic question mark
It is sure hard to know, it's a crazy time it seems like we have the ability to know what we have to do to survive and prosper but we are too scared to do what it takes.

The world in 100 years: pollution will be less of a problem in the future, the world today is cleaner than it was 50-60 years ago, london used to be covered in smog, but now is actually relatively clean. War won't change, people will always be killing each other, but i don't think we will have any more world wars because we are too sensible, and all of the powerful countriezs are on the same side technology is unimaginable, look at the last 100 years, we've gone fromn having basic electricity which provided little more than lights to having TVs, computers, cars, airoplanes, space exploration, medicine has advanced unimaginable amounts. in 100 years we will be so far advanced we couldn't even imagine it, also we should have solved our obsession with oil by then by finding some sort of alternative. I doubt governments will have changed all that much, maybe we will have a united states of europe, although not including England because we hate europe, and scotland and wales will have been set free by then. Economically we will finally start to see the rise of Africa as economically useful and hopefully aids will have been wiped out so they will all live much longer China will be the most powerful country in the world followed by the newly formed united states of Europe, Americas time of dominance will end with the demise of the oil economy ethically and morally i hope we will have done away with all this political correctness and we will actually be able to say what we feel. racism and sexism wont exist because they will not be important as we will all be so used to living with each other by then. and finally England will have won a Football world cup!

I think by the time 2100..all of man will be gone like the dinosaurs...There will be a huge sickness that no one can find the cure for...and in the end we will have a small part of the world safe for living..and that will be in a HUGE bubble,,,because polution is gonna ruin out planet among other things..and there will be many wars..before we finally become at peace with each other..sooo sad..:(

If you were expecting something like flying cars, it's not gonna happen. The auto industry makes way to much money to ever let something like that happen. Nothing will change all that much except ethics as the world slowly begins to get corrupted.
