What Do You Do With All That Junk Mail?

It seems we get an aweful lot of junk mail. I really don't mind it much. It's something to read when there is little else to do. I have a shredder, so I shred all of it when I'm finished with it and use it for mulch in my garden and flower beds. The ink on the paper is great for the compost, or so I've been told. The shredded paper also comes in handy when I'm packing items to be shipped. What do you do with your junk mail?

We usually recycle most of it. I like catalogs and will read those. The kids will play house with it and sometimes we do crafts. The old AOL cd containers made fun crafts. But usually it takes up a few inches up to a foot sometimes in our recycle bin.

Great ideas. Thanks Allieloopy. What kind of crafts do you do with the cd containers?

It is really good when the junk mailers include an envelope with return postage - especially credit card companies. You can send more than just their unsolicited, pre-approved, you're qualified "to apply" applications! But I don't get many now.

Terrific! I love it. I never thought about sending it back to them. That makes me laugh. Great going hometyme. I'm going to start that too.

I shred it and use it to line cages and as rat bedding. (no shortage of uses for shredded paper when you are part of an animal rescue!)

I just tear everything up and them throw it away. We had a shredder but it quit working, so I just throw everything away. Usually in the trash cat that I put the cat litter in so I don't worry about anyone going through ouur trash and finding any personal information.

I like to read most of the commercial or sale ones when I have the time and extra money. I don't like to read them when I on fitted budget. After read them normally they will go to recycle bags. I don't have shredder, so just bring those bags when full, to recycle container at the public recycle and dump them there. But we do separate the plastic wrap from the mail.

I wish we had a recylce center. It would make things easier, but I don't mind shredding them and using them for other things.

I wish we had a recycle place that paid like that. We don't have the luxury of having one. Thanks for the response mrbranan.

I usually use it to start fires in our burn pit out side. In the summer we will light a bonfire and invite friends over to have a few cocktails.

I usually just throw it away but thanks for the idea of using it for packing. I also have a shredder, never thought about shipping.
