During summertime like this when it's really very hot, I like the halo-halo because it's cold, delicious, and nutritious. I can't forget banana cue also. I am from Davao City where a big banana plantation is and I am fond of eating bananas which are also very delicious and nutritious. Yes we have many street foods and they are yummy.

Isaw! hehehe. Despite all the warnings that it is dangerous to eat these, the appetizing smell and the taste are too tempting to ignore. I try to limit intake as much as possible though. But I don't think I can eliminate this totally from my system. Pinoy eh! ;-) Oh and yes, there are the fish/squidballs, boiled peanuts and a lot more. As for balut, I only want the soup and the orange part, can't really swallow the chick -- I just give it to my husband ... meaning, I have to eat balut only when there's someone else with me to eat the sisiw part :p

I like mais especially the broiled. Corn is more nutritious than rice. Sometimes, if I eat corn, I do not eat rice anymore. It's summertime and halo-halo is very tempting for it's cool and delicious and nutritious too. Banana cue is my other favorite especially because bananas are nutritious and I'm already full eating two bananas in the stick.

Filipino Street Foods - Banana Cue, Balut, Chicken Legs, Halo halo
Who could ever resist the tastes of the EGG of DARKNESS, also known as balut (egg with chick embryo inside), the fishball, chicken adidas (chicken legs), mais (corn), mani (peanut), the refreshing buko (young coconut) juice, the favorite during summer the halo-halo (Filipino dessert that is a mixture of shaved ice, milk, and sugar, to which is added various sweet beans), banana cue. These are my favorite street snacks which we buy all the time specially when going out with friends and loved ones.

Hello Tanya! For me "balot" is the greatest street food that I have ever eaten. I know it sounds eeck and yucks but I like balot, especially when the vinigar is spicy and sour. It really fits my taste and it calms my appitite. I have a second option if balot vendors are not roaming around the streets, the street barbique. They say that street barbiques like isaw, addidas, chicken head and etc. are dirty but for me I appriciate its yummy taste. I know that my favorite foods are a bit yucky to some people but for me they really taste well and good. Whats your favorite street food?

My all time favorite would be fish balls. Because it's the cheapest. Only 25 cents back in the day. Hehe. And also it is the first to be sold in my school way back, the kwek kwek and chicken legs only followed. Halo halo at chowking is delicious only it's not in the streets anymore. Haha!

when i was in grade 1 or 2, yeah the fishballs only costs 25 cents. now they cost 50 cents each. I always buy fishball after class when i was in grades school just right behind the gates of our school and i also buy "scrambnle", (the pink shake with milk on top and chocolate syrup). i dont see scramble on the street anymore nowadays, i dont what happen to it. Ive seen one but its not pink anymore, its violet now and they dont put chcocolate syrup on it anymore.

My favorite has got to be camote cue and banana cue, anything beyond those two I'm too afraid to buy or try because of the health hazards involved. So far, I haven't been sick after eating those two items I've mentioned. Kikiam, fishball, esau and blocked blood all sounds and looks good but the fearful, discerning and cautious being in me stops my palate in their tracks from even trying them. Seeing how these are prepared don't help either. I have yet to see a street food preparer exercise strict hygiene practices when preparing the food. Hahhahah. Sorry to have strayed from the topic at hand but it is a bit related :-) Well, there you go. I only like Banana cue, kamote cue and please add turon. I love them especially when they are hot off the cooking pan/wok. I'd drink buko juice together with the "cue's" only again, I'm afraid for my safety hehehe. :-)

I'm glad you have mentioned one of these street foods and that's TAHO! How I love taho.....It's my all time favorite most especially if it's sold early in the morning because it is still fresh and hot. :)

For me, Halo Halo is the best, because of this tropical season, we have to eat some foods to pass hunger. Halo-Halo is the best drink/beverage. Your sweat would totally loose and feel relaxing.
