Virgina Tech hat thing kind of silly

I've seen two people now wearing Virginia Tech hats to show their support or w/e for those killed in the shootings. I really don't see the point in wearing the hats though, what kind of jerk says I support the killer? Of course everyone feels bad for those killed so what does buying a VT hat show? What's your opinion on this?

Well that's just silly. Of course they aren't wearing them in support of the killer. It's to show support for the families and friends of those killed. It's just like when people put out yellow ribbons, they certainly aren't supporting the enemy countries. Symbols like these are to show support to those hurt, physically and emotionally.

I realize that they're wearing them to support the families... but I don't see the point in wearing the hats seeing as everyone does support them.

Not necessarily...sadly there are people who "understand" the killer's reasoning, other people are just indifferent. Those who don the hats are being openly supportive of those affected. I really do see where you're coming from though...it's not as though wearing a hat will heal the hurt that's been done. I just think it's an emotional thing or a silent message. Like saying "I'm wearing this hat because I care but don't have the words to express it."

I don't have any sympathy for the killer. he had become what he hated. a bully. he didnt shoot kids who picked on him, he shot innocent students who he never knew before. He is just a murderer burning in hell now. Period!

The point is not that they are wearing a hat to support the shooter. People wear hats/shirts of Virginia Tech to show that they are in their thoughts.

Well it was my understanding that those wearing the VT hats were not supporting the killer but rather those who lost their lives, kind of a sympathy thing. The way people kept buying pics, and hanging pics of the twin towers for the World Trade Center. So I don't know who you spoke to who said they were wearing the hat to support the killers, I would have to agree that is in poor taste. Those who have worn the hats in sympathy for those who lost their lives however, while it is not something I understand, sympthy is not shown in wearing a hat, but I guess people need their symbols.
