Ok, I know it's not only me since I've found some people that told me exactly the same thing, but I"m putting the question here for myLoters.
You're comfortable and concentrating on something, maybe reading a book or watching tv, or at your computer. Suddenly you look up, or down, or to your left or right, and there's this spider getting closer.
Is this some sort of a sixth sense? Do we have a special radar for spiders?
I'm not even really afraid of spiders so I can't say that it is fear that makes me look and find them.
All I know is that normally I wouldn't stop what I was doing to look to that specific space.
And I could look at anywhere at all, why do I always look at the exact place where the spider is?And why when I do have this feeling there is always one there?
I often think about this because it's like we do have a sixth sense when it comes to spiders.
What do you think? Did this ever happened to you?

It has not happened to me in case of spiders. But sensing our sixth sense may happen in any case. we all have some sixth sense. In case of some people the sixth sense is more awakened. It may be like that, when some one if afraid or attached to something, the sixth sense becomes active in connection to that thing. When the thing of fear or love come in front, they can sense it before. The person't extra alertness helps him to detect the thing of his love or hate.
I have experienced the sixth sense in case of my loving things or person whom I love.
We all have experienced in sometime of our life, that while thinking of sosmeone, suddenly he comes to our house or suddenly we meet him in an unexpected place. Or may be we thought about eating or getting something, suddenly it comes to us by some one from whom we could not expect it.
Though we think these are all co-incidences, and take it lightly, but I feel there is a great connection between everything we are doing or whatever is happening here, so nothing is a co-incidence.

Yes I know what you mean. It happens to me a lot, with a lot of things.
In this case however I don't have any special feelings toward spiders - loving or hating - although I kind of had a pet one when I was a kid hehe Not exactly a pet But there was this spider at one time at my aunts place and I thought it was pretty and didn't let anyone kill it - well at least while I was around:)
In any case I really know what you mean and you're right, things are all connected in ways and to an extent that we don't even know.

I would guess that maybe you picked up the tiniest movement out of the very corner of your eye or as a reflection in something and that made you look in that direction. The only way to test would be to keep a log of every time you look up and don't find something there, and see if you get a spider more times than not.

Perhaps its an left over instinct from the days when spiders were HUGE and could kill us? I'm talking about our ancesters, possibly before they started using tools.
Either that or its intuition. Since everyone has intuition, but some people are more in touch with it. I'm like that with any living creature..it could be a person behind me, and I'd know..even if they're way down the hall.
Just my two cents.

Interesting because this left over instinct was something me and a friend discussed one time. She also feels the same thing and we were talking about those lines.
Come to think of it, I do have a certain thing about perceiving living things close to me, even if they're still out of normal range, as you say behind me or down the hall.
I think I notice spiders more because they're so silent even when they're right beside us.

It may be caused by the movement close by. But I do know what you mean. Have you ever woken up suddenly, not really knowing why, and there is a spider dangling over your head? It's happened to me before. Then you are afraid to move when you do see it and find yourself just sitting there watching it. Making sure it's not inching closer while you blink.

OH yes, I had that happening to me too :)
But in that case, it sure can't be the movement unless our perception is incredibly high and we can sense such a small movement even when asleep which brings us back to the why.
Paranoia in the last post argues about the fact that long time ago people did need their senses well enhanced and accurate to be able to defend themselves of those huge deadly spiders, maybe that is a fact. Something that stayed from a time when it was needed.

LOL Yes peripheral vision is another thing that might have something to do with it, of course.
Although it's more a thing I feel than a thing I see, but of course if my peripheral vision sees it, then I will probably " feel" it ,
Have a nice - spider free - day :)
