I only give a plus sign to the responses that pertain to my subject. Some people just post some stupid gibberish and I don't put a plus sign there.

I understand what your saying but even that "stupid gibberish is credited by mylot.. I give a plus to those who answer something that pertains to my topic but also that respond something intelligent..Most the time if a person is responding on your topic, I think it will be about your topic..Joy

surely by now they are back? I know that you can choose the ratings..you give..but I try to give a plus to those who do a good job and answer with a least a 5 word sentence;)+

Yeah,I notice,giving + will not only give them higher points,and we can benefit too.so I give out a + to almost every response.
