I think it's a mixture of both but more exercise than diet.

DIET! You can work out all you want, but you won't lose weight if you consume too many calories.

They're both very important. If I had to choose, I'd say diet. You can eat lots of bad foods and be very athletic yet become very sick.

excercise isn't even half when it comes to fat around stomach, that is mostly diet and your natural metabolism. You can adjust your metabolism with a religious work out routine but the whole thing would be pointless without proper diet. A really good start to getting into shape is to start every day with a 45 minute to an hour walk. If you drink coffee, have a cup before you go, that will start every day with a higher metabolism. As for the excersise, there is a sequence of stomach excersises that when done in the right order are more beneficial than just doing situps or crunches. Basically you always want to do your stomach work out in this order: Lower abs, upper abs, sides. There are plenty of ways to isolate them but be warned, they tire you out much quicker than situps or crunches because you don't get as many other muscle groups helping, you know, like when you see someone doing situps and they're throwing they're back and legs into it too, well that shouldn't happen. You can work your stomach every day, it doesnt take long and having a strong core will greatly improve your life.

I think both are important. Base on my experience to DIET (Minimal Food Intake) without the exercise may give you good results but long time span. Exercise (Gym or walking) without DIET may give you good results but it will all go back or hard to maintain. Doing both DIETING and EXERCISING is the best to lose weight or even to build muscles. Plus its good for you health to do both.

I think both are important. If you go on diet, you also have to go through exercises to be really physically fit. Proper diet without proper exercise doesn't make sense at all. :)

I think both are equally important. Combined with a healthy diet, exercise can speed up weight loss. Exercise is also the best way to maintain weight loss. Regular exercise also helps you burn calories faster, even when you're sitting still.

Both are important for a healthy body. Diet doesn't mean cutting down on calories but eating a well-balanced diet. Our meals should consist of the right amount of calories, fats and proteins. Although, I think eating a well-balanced diet without engaging in regular exercise would be good enough. That doesn't mean that it's not necessary to have some form of physical activity. Just doing our regular chores or hobbies make us burn calories. If one does not have a medical condition, then just a strict adherance to a healthy diet without a fixed set of exercise would suffice. But, for overall optimum well-being, regular physical activity would help.
