New York Knicks' Offseason Changes

If you have observed the New York Knicks' on-court drama this year - the brawl with the Nuggets, the congested roster at the guard positions, the inconsistent plays, and the exciting game-winning shots - you must be thinking about the promise brought about by the roster they have now. As Howard Beck said, (through the season) they were "often promising but ultimately disappointing."
Isaiah Thomas doesn't seem to be keen on making changes this offseason, but you have to admit, this roster could really use some changes. The roster they have now is simply too flawed.
Jermaine O'Neal (who appears to be losing confidence in his ability to lead the Indiana Pacers to a title shot) and Kevin Garnett (whom we might on the trade market along with Pau Gasol and Ray Allen) figure to be possible targets for acquisition.
And from their current roster, they're most likely to trade Steve Francis (to the Los Angeles Clippers, as rumored) and keep their players which are breaking out (Eddy Curry and David Lee). They can also consider trading Channing Frye who contributed well last season but appeared to have been negatively affected by the team's focus on Eddy Curry's inside play. Or perhaps they'd want to package a couple or more of their guards for one or two better players (ala NBA Live).
At any rate, they need some changes. While they're still in a position to hook free agents this offseason.
Do you also think changes are necessary for the New York Knicks' next season?

I love the NYKNICKS, and it's mainly because of my boyfriend. He got me hooked on it. I personally can not stand Steve Francis, and I'd love to see him go! Heck, I'll help him pack.
Now, I sure hope they don't mess with any of the other guys. I like them all. My favorite is Stephon Marbury and Jamal Crawford, David Lee and Balkman.
I sure hope they do better this upcoming season, even though they did a lot better than when Larry Brown was in charge - I didn't like him either.

So Steve Francis has gone, fortunately for the Knicks. To be fair with the player, though, he was at one point one of the best at what he does, it's just that he lost whatever chemistry he had with teammates when he first moved away from Houston. That said, I wish him luck in his second stint with the Rockets.
David Lee's a steal. Whoever thought this guy would be this good?
I'm not sure about Renaldo Balkman, though. I think he still has a lot to prove to fans.

new york is indeed overloaded with guards, stephon marbury, jamal crawford, steve francis, quentin richardson, nate robinson. they have to unload some of them and get a quality big man to complement eddy curry who had a great season. jermaine o'neal, kevin garnett and pau gasol are some of the names in the free agency this coming offseason, and the knicks might take advantage of it.
personally i think new york should let steve francis go. he's not really effective in the rotation since stephon marbury is the knicks' primary option. also, quentin richardson could also be sent away. though he had a great season, replacing him with somebody like garnett, j-o, or pau will be a lot better for the knicks. new york definitely lacks a potent big man, eddy curry is not enough to carry the knicks in his back.
garnett/o'neal/gasol, curry, lee, crawford, marbury.. thats a killer line-up. for sure the knicks will be back in the postseason again. i hope isiah thomas will do his homework this time

*If* it happens, it's going to be the second time Kevin Garnett and Stephon Marbury will be teaming up. I don't think it worked well for them with the Timberwolves, and I don't believe there's much improvement in how they will do if they join forces in New York.
My concern for Garnett's future is that if he bites an offer from New York he might never get that championship ring he's dreaming of. Maybe he'll be better off joining a championship contender instead, and the Knicks, well, are very far from that. They didn't even reach the playoffs this year!
