Global Warming is a Sham

Bear with me here. My friend keeps telling me global warming is a sham, base don faith in what others tell you. He tells me that all the experts he has talked to directly say that they have a problem with global warming in their fields for instance the oceanographer has a problem with the theory and how it relates to higher ocean levels. But each one says "But the other experts all agree so it must be so." And then something similar with the geologist he spoke with, and so on. So is global warming a sham perpetuated by fear and "Agreeing with the experts" like the Emperor's new clothes? I don't know for certain because I am not an expert in any one of the fields related to it, to be able to evaluate the numbers for myself, let alone an expert in all the fields to be able to compare them. Even if my friend is wrong though (like I suspect), what could it hurt to be more friendly to our environment and be less poluting?

If you look at the history of the earth we continually have warming and cooling periods where the temperature reaches extremes then swings the other way. Our polution is just speeding up the process. It will happen, its just a matter of when.

So then the question becomes, will reigning in the pollution be enough to buy us a few more years as a species? Or will it even get that bad?

Reighning it in will help determine how long we can be comfortable. Imagine being in a room. Its a little cold in the morning then warms during the day and gets quite hot by noon, then cools off again. Thats the basic earth weather cycle. We're enjoying that comfortable time midmorning. Would you want to add an aditional heater when you know it'll be sweltering at noon and you couldn't turn it off? Would you not start getting hot that much sooner. Its the same basic thing on a global scale.
