2 year old and bed time! / myLot

I love to read, and would like my daughter to love it as well. She's 2, and when it's bed time, I tell her to go choose a bed time story. sometimes she goes, other times she throws a fit because she doesn't want to go to bed! Any suggestions?

I just up routine. Do it at the same time every night and she will get used to it. Her body will also get used to the schedule and be ready for sleep by then too. I read to my kids every night at bedtime too. They are now 27 and 25 and both are avid readers especially my son. He reads everything.

I will work on that. We do read to her everyday, usually 2-3 times a day, that's not a problem. But thanks for the advice.

Just hang in there. LOL Two year olds "know what's best" for them-or they think they do, anyway. The key is consistency. Perhaps she could suggest a "wind down" activity-you might ask her. Sometimes it helps to give them a little bit of "control" too. It goes a long way towards getting cooperation from them.

Yeah, I know you're right. I've been trying to be consistent, but it's really hard with my husband coming home and wanting to spend time with her and he's hungry and she wants to be with him as well. I'll try having them do bath time together.
