What a game!
Well, lets just say,it was worth it for me to stay up until 5.00 am (Malaysian time) to watch this game!
I’m a Red Devils fan and I believe all their players had performed superbly as a team this morning. My individual rating goes like this :
Van Der Sar (7/10) - There was nothing he could do to prevent both goals. For me both goals came from defensive mistake. Not his fault at all. Other than that, he had nothing much to do.
Gabriel Heinze (7/10) - He might be at fault for both goals but he is not a natural central defender. He definitely lacked pace but again, his work rate was just unbelievable.
Wes Brown (7/10) - Solid performance. Some says he IS better than Rio Ferdinand. He will be if he plays more game in the future.
Patrice Evra (7/10) - His speed helped the team’s counter attacking style. Very fast & hard working. Have some misunderstanding with C Ronaldo during the game but could be forgiven since he was just back from injury.Too bad he is suspended for next week game.
John O’shea (7/10) - I don't really like this guy before. He showed a glimpse of talent in his first season playing at left back but since then, his performance just getting worse every year. But this morning, he was just superb. His overlapping run from the right created chaos to Milan defence. Maybe, just like Wes Brown, he should be given more games to boost his confidence.
Darren Fletcher (8.5/10) - There is a reason why Sir Alex sticks with his countryman although for some indifferent performance before. (Hope he also got it right by sticking
with Kieran Richardson) Again Milan,he was much much better than both Scholes and Carrick. Great in helping the defense, and showed some gutted performance when going for attack. His work rate was just par above everybody else. No doubt, Darren Fletcher is a future replacement for Paul Scholes.
Paul Scholes (8/10) - Quiet at first, then showed why he was voted 3rd in PFA award this season. His tackling no doubt was abysmal, but his brilliant chip to release Rooney for the 2nd goal proved he still much the same old Scholes.
Michael Carrick (8/10) - He is worth every penny Man Utd has paid for his service. He is just getting better and better every single game. Again Milan, he showed simple yet effective performance again more experience players at Milan. Control the engine room well while running back and forth to help the defence.
Ryan Giggs (8.5/10) - The old Ryan Giggs proved he still got a lot of legs left. At 34, he is just getting better and better. Last night, he linked up well at the right flank with O’Shea to create a lot chances. Great vision releasing Rooney free for the 3rd goal.
Cristiano Ronaldo (8.5/10) - He had a quiet game by his own standard. Yet it was enough for the entire Milan defence to run scared. Just impossible to stop. 2-3 players marked him everytime he got the ball. Scored the first goal and should get more if not for some good save from Milan’s keeper.
Wayne Rooney (9/10) - Two world class goals was enough for him to be Man Of The Match for Man Utd. Recently had showed great improvement after a stutter performance couple months back. Last night he looked calm although after Milan was leading by 2-1. It’s proved that he will play better if he can keep his composure at bay.
Well, there is still one game to go at San Siro next week. Anything can happen. Man Utd might still lose. But for whatever happens next week, lets worry about that later. For now,I’m just going to enjoy the win! They lost the entire first choice defenders and yet they still get the results at Old Trafford. A well deserved wins!
I’m tired, sleepy & a bit dysfunctional but very very happy today!
Go Red Devils!
