i'm so proud of myself for doing something good for the environment. i did groceried today and bought a bunch of thos material bags instead of using plastic or paper. they are so cute too and really weren't expensive at all. i'm glad i did it and i hope all of you start doing this. it's so much better then sending bags to the landfill every week.

Sorry I use plastic bags and I even double the bags when needed. I am sorry that they are not good for the enviroment but they are really good for me. I also use them when I have a yard sale. I put peoples purchases in them. So I guess I am recycling and did not know it. It would be nice if they could come up with a plastic bag that is good for the enviroment but I don't think they will do that.

They do! Somewhere, a few years ago, I heard that they were making grocery bags out of corn starch. they may have stopped, because they weren't as strong, I'm not sure. But, the technology is there. It's just a matter of telling the greedy oil companies No! :)

Thats a great idea. Where did you buy your bags from? Was it a local place or online? None of our store sell those material bags that I need for groceries.

sorry forgot to say which one. independent is where i bought mine. they are really nice. they also have them at the food basic store but cost more there and aren't as cute looking, but i guess they don't need to be cute if they save the environment.

Make sure you don't do what I have done. I was all good intentions also and got myself a heap of these bags and used them straight away for all my groceries. Only problem was I forgot to put them back into the car so I wouldn't forget them. The next time I went shopping they were sitting at home nice and empty while I had to use the plastic ones. Now I make it a habit every time I use them to put them back into the car for the next shopping trip. Good for you for trying to help the environment this way.

Ohh, do you hear that? Listn carefully. If you listen carefully you will hear the trees swaying in the breeze and in the rustle of their leaves you will hear a quiet 'Thank You!' I am so proud of you. To buy reusable bags for grocery shopping is just a great exaample of a simple and inexpensive thing that we can each do for the envionment! For instance, in my silly small town there are no recycling centers, but I can sure do my part for the environment by using material bags rather than paper or plastic! Again, Kudos!

Great job POP! I'm proud of you. I bet they won't rip or tear as much as the cheap plastic ones around here do! LOL! Thank you for reminding me, too, of finding that canvas I purchased so I could make my own bags. :)

WOW I have never seen material ones for sale at our grocery stores, but I would definatly buy them if I saw them. Were they just out or did you have to ask for them?! I'm sure i'd forget them at home sometimes, but even if I use them SOME of the time it would help and i'd feel good about it!

they were out on display, but some stores have them at the cash and you have to ask the cashier for them.

That does indeed sound like something good to do for the environment. It is definitely better than using paper or plastic and contributing to the breakdown of the environment. There is also definitely a great deal less trash to be thrown away also.
