Reducing our dependence on fossil fuels

I know of ways to reduce our use of fossil fuels but I lack the ability to market and get my thoughts on a prototype to prove and reduce the waste we keep pumping into and through our engines. There are many technologies that married and properly employed we could capture and reclaim a lot of lost energy. We haven't even begun to conserve, and we need to begin and begin now.

One of the best ways to conserve fossil fuel is to burn up more shoe leather, but we know that isn't going to happen.

I'm a truck driver by trade, burning shoe leather or cycling. are two ways to reduce our dependance on fuel, the problem is that our society doesn't make bicycling or walking a convienent path to work. We have to share the roads with other motorists and some are huge, pedestrian and bicycle traffic and motorized traffic should be seperated.

Twice I have bicycled half way across the US, 100 miles a day four 14 days. At present I have quadraped, 3 wheels and you pedal it with your hand and your feet. It has 7000 miles on it. For many years my wife and I would almost daily go for 50 mile rides anything less would hardly break a sweat. Time has now intervined, even walking is getting difficult. The miracle carburator was on either discovery or the science channel, they explained why it was not practical.I can't remember. Memory, thats another place mother nature is messimg with me. Gas milage is not the problem it takes so much fuel to produce x amount of power.People think they need more power than they actually do. Then they whine like a room full of puppies when they have to pay for it. I had a VW diesel with a proto type turbocharger that got an easy 64 miles to the gallon and that was back in the eighties. I wish I had it back. Oil companies or what ever are not the problem its the evolved monkeys, the consumer, who are to arrogant and short sighted to give a damn. I some times look around and wonder how monkeykind ever progressed this far. The last car I owned went 0 to 60 in 4 and one half seconds topped out at 165 and got 23 miles to the gallon at cruising speed and only had a 260 cu inch engine, the fly in the oitment was that it cost 64000 dollars. It has come to my attention that that every thing is proportionate to money.

I do hope your idea gets out to good use. If we keep going on the path we are going now, Mother Earth will be in big trouble.

Thanks for stopping by Riptide, I think we need to get out of the business of war and get into conserving resources. First things first... For the sake of the Earth and mankind.

It would be so nice if you could find some backers on this that have the means of getting a proto set up and then to sell. I do al I can dont use my Durango no more than I have too.

If every person changed the way they do things.....then that's a lot of change. I no longer jump in the car and run into town every time I need something. Instead, I go twice a week and do everything in those two days so that I not only spend less, but I use less energy. I also buy fresh fruits and veggies, therefore I use less packaging. My family and I have never consumed much of anything but water and green or black tea. My kids didn't like soda pop so all I ever kept on hand was enough to serve their friends as guests. So, we didn't have all the cans and plastic containers a lot of people throw away. Even small things help. To believe they don't means no one will change their behavior and the planet will deteriorate at a much faster pace. Once you start conserving you will find many other ways and in time,, conserving will become natural.

There are many ways to reduce our dependence on oil.The Japanese has invented a car that is run by electricity or battery.A Filipino inventor developed a car that is run by electricity, although its much smaller than the Japanese car.Nuclear energy can produce more energy and more efficient than the fossil fuel.Deuterium is a new fuel energy, wherein vast deposit is in the Philippines. There are more energy waiting to be tapped, the problem is the big oil companies, they won't let it happen.

And there are other things that can be done, except I'm not at liberty to discuss my ideas. Why should I allow others the opportunity to get rich off of my thoughts? I know things. I can't talk about what I know. Forced into silence, it is sad.

I think its more than possible to switch at this current time to a new fuel source there used to be alot of vehicles that ran off propane on the road not sure how many still do this but its nearly a unlimited fuel source. The thing I would have to say is I doubt it will make any difference if we do switch to another source on who will control it. If we all started using hydrogen fuel cells in vehicles tomorrow I am sure the people in control would still be the big oil companies and I am sure they would probly be making even more of a profit than they do now. If we doubled the fuel effeciency on all cars being produced right now you can bet the oil companies would more than double their prices on gas. Something does need to be done for the simple fact of helping to curb polution and it needs to come from the corporate level.

I know what will save us, it is the use of larger flywheels and recapturing or capturing lost kinetic energy. One of the other things is to expand the fuel to gain maximum power and mix which is a technological possibility with the use of computers... :) Hot fuel, oxygen, along with electric assist... I'm really interested in the power of the gyro... A combination of three elements and formulas, using two energy sources supported by one carbon based fuel. We know electricity can be derived brom a variety of sources. :)

Hey just ran accross this thread again and thought I should add in that if you ever get a chance to see it anyone who is interested in this subject should see the movie "who killed the electric car". I learned alot from watching it and I now have serious doubts that hydrogen vehicles will be the saving grace for us.

Thats great! why not seek the help of some govt. agency for your invention? or ways how to cut off or reduce the consumptions of fuels..did i got it right? i really cant understand much your point , i just response the way i have understand it..

My invention and the use of the government to protect my intellectual property is an oxymoron, if you understood all that I've been through you would see the folly in that thought. Who should I trust? I'm just a poor boy and though I know a lot about fuel consumption atomization and other things, I'm never going to have my work ever massproduced. Like the guy that back in the 1950's developed a carburetor that was extrememly fuel efficient, a Nash 6 cylinder engine could run and get 50 mpg. Imagine if cars produced in the 1950's were getting 50mpg. Imagine what the price of oil would be today, imagine how much oil would still be in the ground. Now what does oil do? What would you like to know about fuel, conservation and our environment. Why would the Earth need oil in the ground?

I'm sorry I got a little off track, Esso bought the patent to the carburetor, and smashed the prototype. The oil moguls told the inventor, "that his carburetor would never see the street." I know a little of what that inventor did, my father personally knew the man. So using the government to patent an invention doesn't mean that the invention will be produced and help reduce the cost or waste of our resources. The good need to circumvent the system of corruption. How do we do that?

Horse hockey; That carburator is patented and the reason it never went into production is that it did not work. The misinformation floating around in the world of evolved monkeys is phenomenal.

Actually there is already a solve to substitute fossil fuels with another source of energy, which is oil palm. My country has been producing this subtance and we are exporting it to many parts of the world.

Interesting, Oil Palm or Palm oil, how much oil does a palm tree produce? I'm curious if this is what you are producing, how do you go about extracting this product? The real issue isn't the fuel we use, the problem is that we are not getting all that we could out of the fuel we that we are already using. The way I see it we should be going further on less fuel. The problem is that we need to advance technologically to do that. By stretching our fuel usuage we can reduce our carbon foot print and leave that insulative barrier between us and the mantle. Of course maybe you could think of another way to reduce our dependence on fosil fuels? Remember in order to create a fosil fuel you need to use fuel to create the fosil fuel that all goes into the equation.
