For me both opposition and administration are not worthy for our votes they are all the same. Better we will not vote. Those politicians are not worthy for the positions they are running specially the senatorial candidates. We move to abolish the senate instead. Maybe this way the budgets for having a senate body specially the pork barrels for each senator has will be used to a more suitable projects. How about that?

actually, that is what cha-cha is all about... to abolish the senators' seats. imagine, we already have congressmen.. they are the one representing regions and places. so, why the need of senators, right? additional budget for their salary? if we go on with the charter chagne, we cost cut their salary budget.. that's how many millions of savings a year for the philippines? and yet, people don't understand what is cha-cha all about. we just listen to what the media is saying... without trying to dig in what it is truly about.. we jsut look at the cons... how about the positive results of it? we love to blame everything to the government. we forget to look deep down ourselves.. our we doing our part in becoming a good citizen? or we just love to blame all faults to other people? and it's important to vote. just one vote... yup.. sounds useless... but it's the right we are supposed to practice.

yes I thought of not to vote, besides it is use less! they also cheat! what is our one vote compared to their cheating?

I agree with you maryannemax, it is not just the government who must be blamed, also it's people. but I don't agree with you regarding with the charter change, the people who is in the govenment now are very corrupt and we all know that, the people opposed charter change because of Gloria!, think!, if Gloria is able to cheat,to put herself into her presidency using the democracy kind of government, where there is 3 kind of power, the presidency, the legislative and the judiciary how much more if the charter change has been approved?. look, if the people approved charter change the legislative will be gone and the power of judiciary is weakened, that give much power to the presidency itself, she can make her term much longer or just stay to be a president or it may lead into a dictatorship. that is why, the cha-cha has been opposed for atleast, the people can fight for their insights against the government.

i am not yet a voter but i have quite a clear view of our politics scene. i guess i would vote for the opposition. not straight though. some of the opposition members are "all-talk" too. one thing is for certain. if i was given the chance to vote this year, i would never vote tito sotto or tessie aquino-oreta. those people are traitors to the who didn't prove anything good during their term in the senate.

we can't afford to give a second chance to people if the future of our nation is at stake! for me, if the progress of the country is at risk, there is no room for errors or traitors that cannot prove their worth in the senate. after all, billions of Filipinos are hoping for a better tomorrow. we can't have them placing their hopes and money on worthless traitors can we?

its not opposition or administration but its who do the best job. for me im not the type of person who vote straight. i believe that there are good candidate both in opposition and administration, i guess il have to choose those good and better person above the other. your right the future for our country depends on each one of us citizens, we are given the power to choose the best so lets make the most our of it. being one of the poor country in the whole world we should not let our country go into the deepest part. we are the only hope for our country to go up so lets love it and be proud of it. we have so much to offer if only all of us help each other and choose the better person to seat in the government.

Excellent! we have the same perception, thanks for posting. you are right it depends on the every individual, It does not depend on the party he is into.I will not vote straight for administration nor to the opposition, but choosing the right people that you know will help us, I guess is the right thing to do.

judging from the lists of candidates in this coming election, I'd say opposition has a big advantage. Most of their candidates are quite visible to the media even before election campaigns started. And one more thing I observed, most of the candidates for the administration are person whom obviously the current administration can put a leash on, except for a few. I just wish joker arroyo would win.I'm only voting him in the admin side and i'm not also voting all of the opposition side maybe only a few that I think will do ok in the senate floor.

Well convincing you to vote for him is his & his staffs' job not mine. I'm voting for him because he's been around for a long long time and haven't seen him in any graft & corruption cases. And my dad told me that he was one of those people with Ninoy during the Plaza Miranda bombing and was against the Martial law of Marcos. But really, if he's a corrupt person, he won't be around for 20 years in politics would he?
• Philippines
27 Apr 07
yes!, voting straight, I guess is not very necessary. why will you vote for Joker arroyo? , ohh, nothing just don't know much about him. will you convince me, why should I vote for this person?
• Philippines
28 Apr 07
even though his name is joker, someone is yet to convince me that he's evil. the fact that he never was into any graft and corruption case speaks about how he conducts his way of politics. he belongs to a rare breed of politicians who actually do the job entrusted to them. if you will look at his attendance sheet in the records of the philippine congress, you'll see that he rarely misses attendances, something that tells about his work ethic. in our type of political elections, the only way to win is either you are popular and rich. but sometimes, if people can see that you're a person who does his job efficiently, then they'd be convinced to make you win your post back again and again. i believe in joker. you should really vote for him. even if batman will kill you for it. :)

i'm pro opposition... i will never vote candidates from the administration team coz they will just help GMA to reign longer and impose more corruption in our country Philippines... hope they will not be elected....i don't have trust in them..
• Philippines
27 Apr 07
ok, I'm pro opposition too, but their are also individuals from the administration that I would like to vote for, I guess it's not that, if you are an opposition you can be trusted, It all depends on the individual himself.

the problem with our candidates is that some of them don't even adhere to strict party-politics. 2-3 years ago you'd see the faces of these candidates belonging to the other camp. Oreta and Sotto in the admin ticket? years ago they're cursing GMA to hell... i can't vote straight this time. both sides have their own share of bad candidates NOT to vote for and as for me i'm endorsing these people.. Arroyo's good. even if his name is *Joker* (yeah, you heard me right Batman, you got the wrong guy this time). Chiz Escudero's not that bad at all. Zubiri's a good candidate to vote for. Pichay - well, i don't know if he's winnable, but i think he's OK.. I've yet to think about the others. Don't want to be too hasty and be the reason why the Philippines will be cursed for another three years.

good topic here moonlitpriest. anyway, even if most people here is obviously against the gloria as president, i will still want to air my views on the matter personally. first of all, i am not a gloria fan. but thing is, i find that she did lots of improvements. the economy is stabalizing which is a good sign for all of us. we say we don't feel the improvement. that's sad. we only feel bad about everything. how can we ever progress if we always love to finger point and blame and look always for stains? we always overlook the beautiful things happening around. i see that the media is stressing so much of the negativities and never on the positive things which are happening in our country. and so, since we all are into tv and news reports, we always believe what the media is showing. but how about the "good" news? where is it? is good news not news at all? i am just saying that the philippines is not just the corrupt country in the world. there are still loads of corrupt countries in the world... infact, all countries suffer from corruption. even the countries we look up to so much with pride and respect are suffering from underground corruption. jsut that their corrupt officials are so great in putting their corruptions into secrecy up to the point that it will never be revealed ever. i say, i already have my list on who to vote. and i respect everyone's opinion anyway. i go for the administration by the way... happy myLotting!

I will vote for the opposition - straight. GMA should not have the support from the Legislative Branch so that graft and corruption will be minimized. At least some people would be against her whims and caprices. She has set up her collaborators in the Executive Department including the Judiciary. There should be an efficient check and balance.

yah, I do agree with you, because if all of them are at the side of Gloria, no one will oppose her power because she is the one who helps her people(running senate in the administration) during the election, I guess no one will dare. unlike if the opposition will win, Gloria can be opposed, and she cannot take over the legislative branch of the government, because as far as I know the presidential had took over the power of the judiciary, which is not right!, I have said this because, when gloria cheated, the judiaciary branch did not impeached her! oh, I should have known, during the erap's impeachment the judiciary is the one who make "lukluk" gloria in her presidency, we people must have our "kakampi", I guess voting for the opposition is the right choice.

I thought that being the 1ST was only in Asia. Heck. Earth?!. Are you sure about this?. Going back to your question, if i'm going to choose among the politicians, there'll be no vote straight for ADMINISTRATION nor OPPOSITION. Does not make sense at all.

yes, according to what I have read, philippines is now the most corrrupt country in Asia (in the world? just an hyperbole) and being third in the degration of education. yes, voting straight will not make any sense.

I would vote for the opposition. The present administration has done so much damage to this country. many of our citizens are crying our for help yet the government's goal is centered upon all the graft, corruption and exploitaion that they can do. this is very relevant to the justice system that the Phils. has. Although there are a few candidates from the administration that I would like to vote for, like J. Arroyo and R. Recto.
• Philippines
26 Apr 07
yes, I agree with you, they have done lots of damages in our country but we can't change the fact that they also contributed something for the better god of the Philippines, I just don't know who are the people that can be trusted, and who are not.

I'd go for the Opposition, because they had less commercials than the Administration.I really doubt the Administration about helping the people with their financial problems coz with their numerous lousy commercial they'd just earn back the money they'd spent for it...by CORRUPTING...AGAIN!

I wouldn't vote straight for opposition or administration. There are only a few candidates who passed on my qualifications as deserving to be voted. They're all the same anyway no matter where they belong. Politicians are all the same. I just hope who ever will be on the 12 senatorial slots will do good and wouldn't be that corrupt especially if they can't help to steal.

As of now, I haven't really decided on who to vote for. I have started my list (haven't filled up the 12 senatorial slots yet) and I haven't listed anyone from Team Unity. I am just so frustrated about how things are under GMA's administration. Though, I am not sure that things will be better if I vote for the opposition. I just go by this -- "vote for the lesser evil".

Its a very hard decision to make-on who will i vote for this coming election. Sometimes i feel that whoever i vote, they might not good enough to make our country prosperous. But from the beginning, when i undertsand what is politics, i have been an opposition of a bad and corrupted government. Until now, now especially that as you said we are now the no 1 corrupt country in asia, i would go for GO. Maybe they could help. I just hate Arroyo's driving skills on the government. It should be a warning to us that not all economist can upgrade our government. And it should be a lesson also not to vote those politicians who are like "yoyos" that they go form one party to another

I believe on Team Unity's platform, and thus I am voting for them come elections in May. I think voting opposition would just bring us back to where we are, rallies here and there, the streets a brimming with red-flag bearers. I dont like these red scenes one bit. I vote TEAM UNITY because I CARE for the future of the Philippines. I may not have a direct knowledge of them, but in my heart I know that I am voting right, and I am doing something for the Philippines in my own little way, believing that we have a future here in the Philippines.
