I can still vividly remember the summer of 1998. I was then a college sophomore and being so bored i volunteered to teach catechism and help in the free medical check-up for a poor rural community. It was such a milestone in ly life! I knew i want to be a teacher or be in a service industry where i can always with people. I was so happy and really proved that a person can only know the meaning of her life through giving herself. What was you most memorable volunteer work ?

Hello thepilgrim! Yes, it's true that we can find meaning in our life when we selflessly help other people. I too feel the same way. And the happiness we get from volunteering is something that money can hardly buy. I guess it was three years ago when I decided to join a community-service youth oriented organization. One of the projects that I joined was the "Sinulog Operation Lost and Found". During this certain festivity, we helped the lost kids in finding their parents. It's really one of volunteer work that I couldn't forget because it's when I felt so happy seeing the son and his mother hugging each other after she lost him for a while in the crowded place. I hope you'll continue your good deed and enjoy mylotting! :-)

I was awarded the service awardee when i graduated in high school. The award was a result of my hardwork in serving the remote places in my hometown, I teach catechism there. When i'm back in our town, i spend my time with my group collecting old clothes, food, old books and school supplies and other things they needed there which they ask from our group. One even ask for old tools for the farm. The people where we serve are very happy each time we get back to do our comunity service again. Its really nice to serve people. It warms the heart.
