It is written in the bible that we should give the church what is due the church? Although it says 10%, does this mean 10% of your gross earnings for the year? month? I've also read that it already has a scientific basis. So the more you give the more it will come back to you. I would really like to try it, but who do i give it to? church? How about friends or people who are in need, if I give them money does this qualify as tightings also?

Before you worry about tithing, make sure you are in a church that preaches what you believe. I was taught that the 10% was of your gross. Everyone I ever knew took the 10% out of each paycheck. It's easier to figure and pay than doing it for the year. That would be a HUGE amount at one time! The tithe is 10%. Period. To give more so you will get more back is to tithe for the wrong reasons. The tithe goes to the church. To give money to others in need is a good thing, but isn't the tithe. That is just what I was taught. There are probably many views on this. If you still aren't sure, ask the minister at your church. He'll be able to tell you.

Yes, the toithe belongs to the Lord as the bible has made it known. But tithe is different from offering. tithe is the ten percent of your earning as you have rightly said, but giving to the needy and others is under Christian generosity. Don't use your tithe to do that.

Tithes or 10% of all of the income of the 12 tribes of Israel were intended for the Levites who work for the temple for they were not given lands or inheritance from where they get their livelihood and so God commanded the other tribes to give ten percent of whatever they prosper to support the Levites. There is no more temple and no more Levites nowadays and the ten per cent is no longer compulsory. Giving is one way to worship God and we should give to the church or anybody as a way to worship God and what we give should come from the heart, it may even be our life which is not only ten per cent of our income.
