My daughter is going on a school trip that will cost approxiamtely $17.00. Her dad (i'm not married to him) is planning on being a chaperone. I have no problem with that. Even thought I wanted to take her but she wants her dad to go. Anywho. If he's going should I ask him to pay for her way? Or do I need to pay half? I'm already going to buy her a disposable camera, lunch, snacks etc.

I would say, if you have a pretty good relationship with her dad, just to talk to him about it. Explain that since you are providing the camera and lunch and snack, that maybe he could provide the payment for her trip. maybe offer to make lunch for the both of them if he pays for the trip.

I think that is a great idea. I know alot of seperated couples who split school expenses like this in half. The way I think of it is if you were still married the money would come out of the joint account. Offering to make a lunch for both is a really nice idea that way you are both handling equal expenses.

It will probably be less of a hassle for you to pay for the trip yourself. But you could try talking to him and suggesting that you split the trip one pays for luch and snacks and the like the other pays for the trip itself.
