Im facing this big problem with my dog, Snobby...Its a very sweet and loving dod but at night when we are asleep. It crawls under our 4WD and chews of wires and parts from underneath. I dont know how to make him stop..and he might chew off expensive parts or he might hurt himself in the process. please share your thoughts on what you think about this situation.

I'm assuming you probably don't keep your car inside the house, so the next deduction I can make is that you leave your dog outside all night? Probably a good way to have him stolen! If you don't want to bring him inside at night, at least get a crate for him and put him in the garage or a laundry room. Dogs can get themselves into all sorts of trouble if left unattended for such a long period of time, and your dog is obviously no exception. He might appreciate being a bit warmer as well.

I've tried getting our dog inside but he is so active that even the slightest sound will make him run outside....We have a fully secured fenced compound so there is no need to worry about him being stolen...I guess I have to make a temporary garage that will keep the dog away from the car

I think the biggest problem you have is a dog with a ton of pent up energy. Which would explain him rousing about the house at night as well as chewing obsessively on your car. He's BORED! Try exercising him more during the day, take him for a walk, play fetch. . anything really. I firmly believe that most behavioral problems stem from one thing and one thing only. . a lack of mental and physical stimulation! Exercise your dog and see if that doesn't miraculously cure his obsessive behavior.

I agree with the person who said that can be very dangerous for your dog. Especially if he gets into antifreeze, that can be deadly. You need to find some way to keep him away from the car. In our backyard we put up a small kennel area, about 4' x 8' that we use to pen our dogs when they can't be in the house and can't be loose in the yard (party, repairs, etc). You can probably construct one yourself that is not very expensive. Ours is covered and has two doghouses inside, but you can do whatever you want.

Can you separate the dog from the car ? This might have to be done. He might chew the brake cables and that could be disasterous. Maybe smear a bit a chilli paste under the car, (it sounds cruel, but it might make him stop or save your life).

Move the dog far enough away he cant get to the car! If he ingests any fluids from the car he can get very sick and could die. You need to remove him. Tie him up or fence him in!!!
