I have been using webmd since 2002, when I first started on the internet. I know that they have recently been completely re-doing the site, however, I did not know that cookies spyware was involved until just now. My spyware protection scams for spyware and such all the time. Just now, I visited the site to research a medication that I am taking and a little while later, My spyware blocker came up and showed webmd cookies as being blocked. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what does it all mean. I don't know that I like the idea of webmd spying on me. I am sure that a lot of sites do this, but to me, a medical site is something different. I don't care about them knowing how many times I watch a video on Youtube or log on to Myspace, but my medical inquiries should be my business. Shouldn't it? Maybe, I am asking to much.

I never had a problem with that site. It is one of the few medical sites that I trust. I don't think they are purposely spying on you. I think they do that because you can put your medical info on there. I can't really explain but I think the site is safe. But if it really bothers you, I have another site that I use for medical info that I use much more often than wembd. Its.... http://medlineplus.gov/

While I don't know specifically what cookies WebMD is using, they're probably harmless. Most often cookies from reputable sites are simply a way for them to know who you are. If the site updates include a history of things you've searched for or something like that, that's a cookie. I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you want more info on cookies, check out this article: http://www.ciac.org/ciac/bulletins/i-034.shtml
