Life after Bankruptcy?

I am not bankrupt. But many people I know are better off as bankrupts than trying to pay off massive debts through long term financial struggles with the bank's installments?
So most of us are actually stuck in the bankruptcy stage even we are not officially bankrupt on black and white papers.
