and wants to get together, to catch up, so he says. but he has hinted in the past that he would like to get back together. Every other time I have made some excuse just not to see him, but I'm starting to feel bad. He is a very nice guy and I would love to have him as a friend. Well, we are supposed to go to lunch today, and I'm not sure how I should be handling it. I don't want to do anything to lead him, but I would love to have his friendship back. We were once very close, we could talk about anything. He is the first man I dated after my son's father left, so he has known my son since he was very young, and has always treated him great. Is it possible to allow him back into our lives while maintaining a platonic relationship?

I think you can maintain a platonic relationship if you keep it real and tell him what you want.I have a few male friends and we are the best of buddies.Theres nothing more than that.Just keep it real.Enjoy your lunch and keep us posted ok.

Haha it will be okay....I hope unless he is the type that wont accept only being friends..thats when you have a problem,girl gone get that free meal!LOL take it easy

I think it is. I have male friends like that. You have to be totally honest with him though and tell him what you are thinking and what you want to see in your relationship. There will be boundaries you won't want to cross if you want to keep it as just friends and you need to be honest about those too. There is nothing wrong with having male friends in your life!!

I have plenty of other male friends, I am a firm believer in being able to have a platonic relationship. I don't know why this is causing me such problems, maybe its cuz he's being so up front about his feelings. usually the guys I'm friends with is because we both just want friendship. Thanks for responding, i guess we'll see how it goes.

Of course its possible, just be sure you tell him the right way and the right word that you just want some 1 to share and be with, to just have afriend in all times, as you knoe him so much, why not just go on ahead and start a new friendship with him??so just be sure, not to give him the wring impression, dont just be silent, say to him what you want
