I went outside yesterday checking on the progress of my Rasberry bushes. they are all getting buds on them already. I can't wait as they are absolutely delicious. My wife, myself my daughter and the neighbors love eating them fresh off the bushes. It's a small amount for now but in a few years it's going to be plenty I think. These rasberry bushes are very invasive. They have sprout up in my lawn 2 feet away from the originals. It's an area of grass that I wish to get rid of so these are going to do the trick without me having to dig the area up etc. Hahaha. I'm a lazy gardener actually. I've had rabbit problems for a couple years. I prefer to let them be as they have yet to really destroy any of my garden plants or flowers. So I let them wander freely. If I see a few out back I let Buster my beagle out. he sees to it that they run away. Hahahaha! Here's a picture of one rabbit that sat here for a good 10 minutes. Till this photo was snapped that is. I got as close as I could. She heard the click and hopped away. Thanks for letting me show this picture and ramble on. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Our rasberries are just now starting to leaf out. We have been getting rain the last few days and it is so warm that I think Spring has finally sprung here in West Virginia

Mine are leafed out quite a bit already. Now to find the right trellises for them. I'm tired of stakes etc tieing them to it. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

We started out with wild rasberries. They were planted by a local farmer many years ago but they were neglected after the land had nobody living on it. We took them and transplanted them, taking care to give them much attention. Now about 9 years later we have wonderful rasberries and they are large. Amazing what some TLC will do for plants.

I never tasted raspberries Grandpa Bob and how I wish I could taste those that are in your garden. I would have love to have a pet rabbit too in my backyard and so would my children but we will just have to content ourselves with the rabbit of my cousin. My parents would definitely not allow any pets at home. I think it is also good to get to reap what one actually got to sow like your raspberries. I feel that it would feel just so rewarding.

The rabbit isn't a pet. It's just part of the wildlife that visits our garden & yard. I've seen maybe 10 at once. They make their home under my front porch too. Well not home but a safe haven from storms & other critters. We toss out salad greens for them sometimes also. Thanks for the response also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I stand corrected Grandpa Bob. However, I can't help seeing all rabbits as pets because we actually NEVER have rabbits running around our backyards or gardens here in my country. Rabbits here are as rare as rasberries.

I have never grown any fruit or Rasberries as of yet, I love to garden and will always grow several different kind of tomatoes (what wonderful salsa and spaghetti sauce I make from them) and cucumbers (I will can and make bread and butter pickles for the family and friends) and sometimes radishes (we love salads), but this year we are trying some carrots, our girls can't wait to see them grow. We love to start our garden from seeds so currently we have them planted and just starting to grow in the windows, we have a long garden period here in Texas and can grow tomatoes to November. The rabbit is cute, we have wild rabbits where we live but I think we might have squirrel problem when everything starts to grow we are inunidated with them, they will come right up to my back door and eat dog food, I leave it there for the cats to watch them from the window ... Take care

I don't think we can grow rasberries here, as I have never hreard of anyone doing it. Does your wife make rasberry jam or rasberry pie? Rasberries are rather expensive to buy here. I had a look at drought resistant plants this morning at a local nursery. Haven't bought any yet, but the situation is looking good for me to plant a few shrubs very soon. I looked at the cute bunny photo & rated it & wrote a comment.

Aww, I love rabbits, I have one as a pet. Maybe you should scoop them up and keep them as pets so they'll leave your garden alone. There are humane rabbit traps that you can buy.

My mom has so many wild rabbits at her house, you wouldnt believe it. They arent even really wild. You can walk right up to them but you cant pet them. She feeds all the wild animals & doesnt allow hunting on her land so all the "wils" animals are pretty tame. Nice picture. & Congradlations on your raspberries. Bet they are gonna be yummy!

Aww, what a pretty little rabbit! Aunt Usha and Uncle Richard grow raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and mulberries. They used to bring me litttle basketws full when i was in the hospital for those 2 years...that is, after i was allowed to eat again. Awhile after i came home, they brought me a baby mulberry tree of my own. It got some flowers on it earlier this year and finally has some green berries on it, waiting to ripen. i can't wait as i love mlberries!

You've just brought back some great childhood memories for me Grandpa Bob! We used to live on a large property, and we had our own raspberry bushes, also grew strawberries, and blackberries too. We loved them as kids, and couldn't wait until they ripened. As for the rabbits, my neighbours back then, used to keep them, but they didn't look after them properly, so we ended up 'taking in' a couple of their 'strays.' We named them Peter and Susie, and even had them in our house for a time, but finally gave them back to the neighbours, who didn't really care that we had them. My mom was an animal lover, so it was great. Thanks for bringing back all of these memories in your discussions.

The wild raspberries are all leafed out here as well, Grandpa Bob. My strawberries are blooming as well. Seems like there are more blooms every day. Now that they are right next to the house, I'll be able to keep the deer from eating them. Got my green beans in the garden today but told hubby we better get the rest of the garden finished by this weekend so I can get the sweet corn planted. Half the fields here have already been planted in corn. Farmers been busy lately. IF we get the garden done this weekend, will take some pics of it to share with e1 here in mylot. Will be bare for now but just to show ppl what we went thru so I could have a garden. lol I thought you were gonna give me a few of your raspberries? What happened? I'll be happy to give ya my addy in pm so you can ship them if you still want to share. Maybe even meet at the WI/IL border to give em to me. All I know is I haven't bought any in hopes of getting some from you. lol
