Does Jesus/God disapline people?

I got hurt recently and stopped going to church,I know not a good reason there is no reason to miss church. Then I found myself being rude over things and fighting with my 4 year old,and cursing. I went back to the old me,then things started to go really wrong,my car broke down,I have no money to fix it because my husband is out of work,,his truck is acting up and then I go to the doctor's and find out I might need minor surgery for gall stones. God is our father and every father has to disapline their children, right? I feel like this is what is happening to me. What are your feelings on this? Am I just letting the devil get me down and try to make me lose my faith? Or have I already?????? Any thoughts? I could use the help.

Babyangie, I think that you are punishing yourself for feeling guilty about missing church......the rest of it, the cursing, the car, the surgery, your husband's difficulty with employment.......no, Sweetie, I do not think God is disaplining you...there are many thing in life that we think have gone wrong...but later, we find out that IF these "bad" things had not happened; it would not have allowed us to accept the things that are heading our way!! Everything happens for a reason...I do not think that you are losing your faith, nor do I think that you have already lost it.....You are human, and therefore, not perfect....do not expect perfection because that is an unreachable goal and it will make you miserable.....God does not expect perfection....he expects your love, honor, praise, loyalty.......it will work out, my friend. Pray and believe that God has a plan for you and he will help you to provide the things you truly need. Take care and have a blessed day!

I am not speaking as a know it all but just as some one with a love for God and a believer of what He has done for us. I believe God is our father, like you said, and that a father must discipline His children. I do not think God can do bad things to people. I am not excactly sure about this but I think that God pull away from us just a little bit and that is when the devil takes advantage. The devil will want to make us believe that God has left us, do not love us or care for us. He will use these times to try and make you feel you have lost faith. Let me explain like this; You are walking with your father on a hot sunny day and he is carrying the umbrella. When you are naughty he pulls the umbrella away just a little bit so the sun shine on you and you feel the discomfort. But he knows that too much sun is not good and it will burn you. He then tells you that you were naughty and you say sorry and he completely covers you again. This may sound a bit lame but that is more or less the picture I have. My advice, keep contact with God through Bible reading and prayer and when you feel right, go back to church, or find another church. Just remember that going to church does not mean going to heaven. Your relationship with God is the determining factor. Hope it all makes sense. Blessings.

Yes..God desciplines his children (Hebrews 12:6-8). If you do not endure trials, you cannot become more Christlike. As a Christian, we are commanded to be thankful in all things (I Thess. 5:18). This means even the bad times. Eccl. 3 tells us that there is a time for all things, even bad times. Trust in the Lord during these times. It will strengthen you. Remember...without the bitter, we cannot taste the sweet.
