I just heard from the news that my country's famous Boracay beach is soon to be under water. Yes, the sea level is rising. This is because of global warming. The sun's rays are getting hotter everyday because the ozone layer can't filter it well anymore. Thus the polar ice caps in the North Pole is slowly melting. The main reason why the sea level is rising. What can we do?

There isn't a great deal we can do. We can reduce the amount of carbon dioxide we release into the atmosphere by curbing our use of fossil fuels and planting more trees, replacing the forests we have depleted. We can also be more careful about releasing gases into the atmosphere which destroy the ozone layer. This requires concerted worldwide action, of course, which is difficult to arrange quickly. The short answer is that enough damage has already been done so that the ice at the poles will keep melting for quite a while. We may just be able to slow it enough so that populations in danger can be moved but, in the end, it is inevitable that your Boracay beach and many low lying areas with large populations (and that applies to most of the world's capital cities) will be flooded and uninhabitable.
