I have never touched those ratings beside the discussion. Are we supposed to rate every responses from our discussion? Can we rate someone even if we did not start the discussion? Is there a way to find out you were rated? Honestly don't know about these. What I know of is, the star supposed to reflect your rating out of 100. Thank you in advance for your help.

You don't have to rate anybody, but it may be one of the things that Mylot takes into account when they decide how much to pay you, since they're paying for participation. It's also a courtesy to others since a lot of people take their rating seriously (the number on their star). You can rate any discussion and any reply. It doesn't have to be just your own discussions.

Thank you for clearing that up for me as well too. I was not sure what to do with the plus, negative, and exclamation point signs beside the discussion and responses.

I think we should rate every discussion, response and comments on response. It certainly elps the person whose response is being rated. I think it also helps the person who is giving rating.

yes you can certainly rate everyone who answered you discussion it dose affect there rating depending on how you rate. I always give good responce if they have given more than a one line answer. Mylot dose not pay for one line responcesbut i try to be fair to everyone who is spending there hard working fingers here.

Oh, I see. I agree with you, I guess it should be a nice habit to rate positive on every responses that we get, afterall there is the effort and giving a piece of themselves and I guess, I should start rating, and most especially to those good responses for spending time and effort on their well thought out comments. Thank you for your time and explanation. Will rate you +. :)

In the past I acted like you. I didn't know what it meant, so I didn't touch it at all. Some time ago I learned you could give the positive mark to someone and therefore he'll have a good fame in Mylot. Although it doesn't relate to the earning, but it's good to rate. After that, I rate the discussions and replies. I want people will have a good fame.

Hi youless. We were in the same boat, but I guess being new to mylot, back then we were still groping. LOL As we get more used to this forum we learn more and more, and thus discovered we needed to contribute more by using the rating beside the discussions, for one. Though, it may not affect the earnings we get as you have said, I too, like to rate the members positive. I feel that by responding, interacting, contributing something, one should be acknowledged, so I rate a positive. It makes everything much more fun, more like an incentive. I'm glad you also do the same! I know you do. Thanks for being the kind member that you are. Cheers!

Reading everyones explanations on how the ratings work here on mylot has really helped me alot. I have been a member for a little over a month and it was weeks before I was even aware that those signs were even there. I'm not sure how I wound up with a 10 rating, I don't really care too much about it, I'm mainly on here to find great discussions and learn new and interesting things from all different types of people.

I am glad you are also more clarified with this issue at hand. Like you I started out not knowing and was not at all aware of those signs next to our discussions. It took me, I think a few months after, since my first time here. I had posted this discussion, thus found out their reasons for being there. Now, I religiously rate all the people who respond to my discussions positively and to those I respond to. I rate also some pictures I see that I like. The way I see it, it is just an acknowledgement that I do that I rate these members on here. Wouldn't it be nice that your efforts had been acknowledged and appreciated?
