I read this on another discussion board somewhere, and the more I thought about it, I thought it would be worth bringing up to talk about on here as well as I know there are a lot of American Idol fans on here as well.
Looking over the past 6 Seasons, out of all of the Top 12 contestants, is there anyone there you would like to see as a Judge for American Idol, even if it was just one Show? Do you think anyone could really be a judge on there, or would they feel it too hard to be a Critic remembering what it felt like themselves?
Personally, I think it would be interesting to see someone like Constantine, Chris, Vonzell Solomon, or maybe Elliot Yamin. I think it would be Interesting just to see what they would really think, if they could be partial. The reason I said Chris, is someone who has made it quite Big and is a Rocker, I would Love to see his opinions on this Show from the other side.
But who knows. Maybe it could never happen, as American Idol could never consider it, but it is worth a thought.

1st of all, let me just say that I don't think they'll EVER replace ANY of the current judges, because they're a "well oiled machine" now, so they don't wanna "fix" what AIN'T "broken"! As far as GUEST judges, since they HAVE had other celebrities do this in the past, we may c past contestants at some point, who knows. I'm not sure that I'd wanna necessarily c ANY past contestant do it, because since they've been thru the process themselves, they may have a "soft spot" 4 the current contestants, and there-4, NOT really give genuine, USEFUL constructive criticism. When I look at the actual judges (Randy, Paula, and Simon), I feel that ONLY Simon gives descriptive, USEFUL advice, while Randy just says it was "pitchy", or he just wasn't feelin' it, and Paula will just say "U look great", or that "U're still a star", something like that, which, 2 me, ISN'T useful 4 an aspiring artist 2 ponder. Maybe a past contestant COULD be as "mean" and TRUTHFUL as Simon, but I don't c it. All I want in ANY judge is honest, blunt TRUTH! So, whether it's a former contestant, another celebrity, or someone ELSE that they dig up, as long as the person has the ability 2 be descriptive, articulate, a brutally honest, I welcome them!

Some very good points here for sure. And personally I do agree with thinking that it would be too hard for a past contestant to be a Judge on this show, as they would remember how hard it was for them to be on there, and they would not want to be too harsh on them. I definately agree though that Simon is the best when it comes to the Judges.

I don't know if she would be a good judge, but I think Kelly Clarkson would be funny. From what I've seen in her interviews she seems like shes a bit goofy. I can just see her and Paula sitting next to each other giggling like a couple of high schoolers.

If you are talking about past Idol contestants being judges I would not mind seeing Chris as a judge. I just bought his album yesterday and it is great. I love all the songs on his cd, especially the first three. Vonzell would be another interesting choice. However I think previous contestants would be biased and not make a fair opinion. I still think Simon is your best bet as a fair and honest judge, though his remarks can be cruel at times.

It is worth a thought, and maybe a try. I like the idea my friend. Maybe you could write to them and suggest it, it wouldn't hurt. What do you think?

I think Taylor Hicks and Blake would both make good judges.
