What kind of dress code you maintain at your work place?

Speaking as a business owner who wears shorts to work - I think it does. Some of us wear "professional" looking clothes, while others like myself. We meet and greet clients all the time, and they do mind. Some times it may affect our reputation at the work place. Being comfortable is very important to our workers morale. Is your policy - "You're an adult, and as long as you're neat and clean, wear what you want."A lot of people feel more relaxed in casual clothes, Do you believe that what you wear will have an impact on your work performance, I work in an office and I dress casual, it doesn't make me work any harder or less. What kind of dress code do you maintain at your work place? Why do you prefer wearing that dress? Is there any reason behind you dressing in that way? Do casual dress codes improve workplace morale? Please do share your ideas and opinions on this.

First of all where I worked had a dress code policy and I had to follow it. No jeans and sweet pants were allowed. You needed to be clean, neat and tidy and not dressed like you are going to a football games. Shorts were not allowed. We were in a big office complex with many lawyers who were dressed in suits and we had to look presentable.

We don't have any dress code at my office. But I want this dress code stuff to be implemented at my place too. It's very good to have a dress code at workplace. It releaves alot of peer pressure. No pressure to wear the greatest and lastest. You can save that for your weekend clothes. It is more economical. Uniforms are usually made from very durable fabric and can be used for several years. I bought my daughters large took them up at the bib section and hemed them up. As she grew we just let them out. Also get together with your friends and neighbors or class mates maybe they can use the ones you have outgrown.

most places i'd worked at had uniforms of one sort or another,so i really didn't have to worry about it. but they still had hair and jewelry rules. every now and then, they did have "dress casual" days for charity though, and people would be so much more relaxed.i think their productivity went way up compared to normal.

Wearing a uniform or some thing decent at workplace is really a good option. That i am really comfortable rather than wearing some thing funky and being formal.

At my workplace we actually have astrict uniform that the company supplies that we have to wear. If we are not wearing it then we do not get to work. As simple as that. It is a horrid purple pants, white long sleeve shirt and a putple vest. We also have to wear a blue baseball cap with the workks name on it at all times. It gets very hot in these in summer as our jobs are outside all day. In winter we got cold but then they supply coats for us to wear.

In India ladies usually wear Saree, blouse or churidar, salwar kameez to the office. Gents will wear pant and shirt. Olden days dhoti which is white wrap around in the waist is not worn by gents. We feel comfortable with these dresses. It is not revealing type also.

I work at two different hotels under the same company. We are required to have black pants, black shoes. We are provided the shirts from the company. I have two different ones. I have a cream color blouse with a black sweater vest with the company name embroidered on both and my name tag. At the other hotel I work at is the same black pants and shoes, but instead I have a dusty blue shirt with the hotel logo on it and my name tag. I like it because I don't have to feel bad if some one is wearing something better than me. I know that everyone is wearing the same thing and I don't have to feel like scum. I do feel comfortable in what I am wearing. It seems to me it is casual. I am glad that we are not required to wear skirts. I simply couldn't do that although if we wanted to wear a black skirt, we could.
