Are you scared that what happened to dormcheck & goldposter may happen to mylot?

I’ve heard of what happened to these two sites. They posted the same reason, saying that due to some members who are cheaters they decided to discontinue paying for posts and I was wondering if this might happen to mylot because lots of people are cheating and posting spam messages. What do you think?

being a mylot member for almost 9 months soon, i never had any doubt with this forum. my confidence is always high on myLot and that's why even if there are new forums coming up which offers bigger pays, i stick to myLot. i always try to go to those new forums. and spend atleast the whole day just being in that site. however, i can already sense something is wrong in them. first, the layout itself is too unoriginal which is true. other forums use the same layout... the colorful ones with smileys and all. and i find their layout so unfriendly to the eyes. compared to myLot layout which is neat and easy to navigate. second, the higher payments that they promised might not make their sites survive at all. third, since they pay more as they promised to their users, most people will try and cheat and spam. fourth, they upgrade their earnings everytime a user post a discussion/response/comment. and eager to see how much is added everytime one has posted something, they post and post even if their posts are obviously not of any quality at all. and that's what i love here in myLot. i am always thrilled and excited to know how much i've earned for the day... and i wait eagerly for the one-time-a-day upgrade. makes my interest to post quality discussions more and more. fifth, the moderators on other forums make themselves too visible to the public... unlike here in myLot, our moderators are a mystery to us. but we know they are there since they update us with changes and work harder for the betterment of the forum and the members. we might not see them all the time here, but we know and we feel they are just around. lastly, most moderators from other forums are just from myLot. i mean, it's okey to put up your own site. but, what hurts me most is when they start using words to ruin the reputation of myLot. instead of being thankful to the place where they learned and had been, they make up negative stories about myLot so they can get more members to join them. and still, myLot even when knowing these issues, never react to them anyway. you might not see my point. hehehe. anyway, i just want to say is that, i love myLot and i feel that myLot will be here for a long long time. oh, not to forget the very interesting, quality discussions here in myLot which isn't present in other forums. plus the interactions of the members here are beyond compare resulting to the building up of friendships which cannot be broken anymore. take care and hope you have a happy day myLotting!

I had not heard that these other sites had done that. I hope that that doesn't come to pass with Mylot. I would think that if this were to be something that they would consider that mylot would first try to find a way to stop people from cheating the system. Right now I myself just follow the rules and hope that this doesn't ever happen.

No that wont happen here thats for sure. And I wouldnt believe everything you hear. I belonged to dorcheck and I knew it was going down for the last couple of weeks. They werent around that long. And they also had a lower class of people there. Not saying Im lower class.LOL But alot of them were people who got banned from here. So what do you expect? The moderators were the worst there. Its pretty funny we dont even need moderators here. The adminasting staff here takes good care of things around here. Mylot is a good site. Dormcheck sucked and they owe my money which I will never see.

I sure hope so. Some members here are doing the moderating though, reporting those cheaters but at 89000 population, it would be hard to keep track. I know, dormcheck sucks big time. They owe me a dollar. LOL. I haven't really posted much there as I like Mylot's interface more.

I am not worried at all at about mylot. I have never seen any of the problems here that i saw at dorm check. The owner (Colin) didn't have a clue as to what he was getting into. he was a young kid who thought he could handle it and he couldn't. So his excuse for closing git down was to blame it on others. My love never gives people excuses about not paying. they have always keep their promise. I bet Colin comes here and posts to make money as well. I don't know what name he would use though.

that's sad. but i admire the kid's confidence. however, just that too much confidence can bring one down, too. i hope he is okey anyhow and that somehow, he will be willing one day to accept his faults, too rather than just blame others. it isn't nice to be as such. thanks mssnow! great input!

Who cares about their discontinuing with the insulting pittance they are paying? I got stuck with myLot not because of their disappointingly low cents, but because of friends, fun, knowledge, information, etc. Worry not about their pay; it does not even cover my cost and efforts.

yup. that's my point, too. but most especially, the friends i gained here are beyond compare. i never thought that such a forum like myLot can make my horizon wider, gain friends more and expand my knowledge about other cultures. thanks myLot!

I know, I really like mylot and if they stopped paying of course I'd still be here, though not everyday. I've learned a lot about other people from mylot. But I'm kinda worried, I still haven't had my first pay yet and I just want to get paid even once before they close down. LOL.

I think mylot should edit and scrutinise what people post and if any person posts a spam message, is mylot not having the right to penalise people who abuse the site? A person can be notified if she/he is posting a spam or any message undesirable.

I've heard that they ban people and even delete some discussions but I don't know if they notify the person if they violated the rules, they just remove your discussion...I think.

I don't think that this will happen here, MyLot seems to be quite strict about removing cheaters and spammers, who get money deducted if caught, which makes these people either leave or start to obey the rules. I think some of these other sites have been looking for reasons not to pay out to their members, but they will have to remember that if they don't pay out, then most of their members will then leave and go to other sites which do pay.

I dont think so,because mylot is a very good site and i know that the admin will be the one to take care of the members here who spam or cheat here. And i do trust mylot. They can handle that kind of situation. And i hope all mylotters will be good here and enjoy staying here.

I will admit, I half-fell for DormCheck when I first discovered it, and was one of the many who thought that it *might* have a distinct advantage over MyLot. I say "half-fell" because it just did not look like it was a setup that had any hope of actually working because it just didn't appear that the discussions were well-kept up with and with it being possible to obtain a full penny for every post regardless of it's quality - multiply that by all the members there and it seemed as if they would have a problem. Not very professionally run (though it didn't have the star ratings so people couldn't rate you negatively if they didn't like your point of view - that's the one thing I liked better). However, it was free, so I decided to try just in case... Well, I did not get paid in the promised allotted time and the rest is history. I doubt MyLot will have a similar issue, and I'll echo what other commenters have just said - it's very professionally run with an established set of rules and it is quality versus quantity that really matters in terms of earnings. There are thoughtful discussions rather than a bunch of people making up random rubbish just so that they can get paid faster (probably DormCheck's biggest fault - I wondered how - and if - they would handle that). Many DormCheckers swore by DormCheck and incessantly expressed resentment towards MyLot... they may have been some of the ones who were banned here, I don't know. Overall the conduct was okay, the site in general was just poorly managed with no real structure. MyLot doesn't possess these same faults, so I don't see the same thing happening anytime soon. Of course, there are no gaurantees on anything in life, but from a practical standpoint these odds don't seem to be the case for MyLot.

I don't believe this will happen to mylot, I think they are a bigger site and run differently to others. I'm sure that mylot admin. would deal to the scammers if it turned out that way. Let's not hope that it will come to this that this site gets hacked or scammed.

Wish mylot wont shutdown that way. Since due to some members who are cheaters they decided to discontinue paying for posts, here on mylot there are no cheaters i guess.

I just hope things don't come to that, because it could be very frustrating for me to work like this and in the end realize that they are not paying. It might even make me want to cry.Just kidding about the last part k.

It depends on the amount of money mylot has. The management here is good. I nearly can't see cheating here though some topics are spam. So if there is sufficient money, mylot should last.
