I'm Trying Out for a Game Show

It's the same one (can't mention the name) that I auditioned for a few years ago and made it to the final list, but was never called to go to the tapings. That was way frustrating! I've watched this show for over thirty years and everyone has always asked "Why aren't you on ____?" since I am so good at trivia. Well, here's my chance again to get on the list, and after that it's up to the producers who they choose (about 1 in 5 from the list make it on the show from what I have gathered from the Web).
Has anyone else out there ever auditioned for a game show? Ever actually been on one? Please share your experiences!

Will you be allowed to tell us the name if you get on the show? So we can watch? I think I know which one it is, though ;)

I wish you lots of luck Writerbob, I hope you get this time. I have a friend that was on a game show years ago. To show how long ago it was, the game show was "The Match Game". How's that for aging myself. Does anyone here even remember The Match Game?

I auditioned for a game show in Britain a long, long time ago. I got the final list and got to travel to London at their expense. I didn't make the final taping either. I thought that was good at the time, because as we watched the show being taped with all the lights, cameras and audience, I knew I would have freaked out and wouldn't have remembered a thing!

At least you got that far. I'll probably take a valium if I actually get to tape because I would probably be a bit too nervous too!

Thanks. I can't tell the exact name of the show until I am off the contestant list or my episode is broadcast (which as i said is a long-shot to begin with).

I havent but a friend of mine did. She made it to the end but was told she wasn't lively and perky enough I.E Fake. I felt sorry because she was really good! I understand they want happy people or whatever, but to disqualify someone like that seems so unfair. Good luck, hopefully they pick you this time!

At the audition I was at and passed 2 years ago, that was what bothered me. Everyone had to act as though they were noble or super animated. I thought I did a good job of matching, but obviously not. This time, I have a "if it's meant to be" attitude.

Well, good luck to you and I hope you do get selected to go. I always want to go on Wheel of Fortune because I am so good at solving those puzzles, but I feel like I am not ready yet.

Thanks. The trouts were yesterday, and the verdict is *drum roll* I made it again! I'm on the contestant list from this June til next February, so I will be patient again and wait for the call.

I have never been on a game show or tried to be on one. I just wanted to say good luck. It is great that you are trying to do something you like doing. I think I know the show you are talking about. I have watched it from time to time. It is certainly an oldie but a goodie...I hope you do well for yourself.
