Surprise or NO Surprise

Do you like surprises? Do you like your partner or friends giving you surprises or are you like me and absolutely hate surprises? When I was 18, my close friend decided to take me out for my birthday treat and I had no idea where he was taking me, he had it all planned and he refused to let the cat out of the bag. He took me into London and when we arrived at the place he wanted to take me my face dropped, talk about disappointment. Where you ask? The Zoo. Sorry but I hate zoos, always have done, I hate seeing animals in cages and for me it also a feeling of entrapment which has happened to me quite a few times in my life. But he had already bought the tickets. I tried not to be ungrateful but it wasn't a birthday to remember! Another surprise I hated was one of ex's taking me to see ColdPlay in concert, ok you might think that's not bad and why I am complaining. But I had never heard of ColdPlay, you know me I love 80s music and I hadn't even heard one of their songs. I also hate concerts because I have a phobia about crowds I get panicky it was also a heatwave and we'd be out in the open! I left before the band had started we met up with a few friends and we had got to the concert early, I hadn't taken any suncream and I was burnt, badly burnt I was so fed up, bored stiff that I left before Coldplay came on. It marked the end of the relationship I just wished they hadn't of got the tickets, they were expensive too! Has anyone dropped a surprise on you and your face dropped to the fly in horror?

Sorry to hear you don't like surprises, I love them. I grew up with a Mother that never gave me a surprise everything was planned and everything was always known. When I had a birthday she would ask me what a want and sometimes even take me to get it so I never experienced surprises and then into adulthood I married men that did the same thing, never a surprise always knew what I was getting when I was getting it. These days, I like surprises, I don't care what it is or where it is (as long as I don't get embarrashed that is, can't stand to have my birthday son sung to me for instance) but otherwise I am happy with just the thought that someone would want to surprise me.

Nothing like getting into a relationship for the ultimate surprise. I am really boring I like my friends to be predictable that way they don't spring surprises on me. Least I've never had a stripogram LOL! imagine eh! Thanks for your response x

I hate 'surprises' .. I don't even know what I want to do let alone expect anyone else to work out what I want .. I have had a few surprises in my life time .. all horrible, awful, refuse to go, not interested, wouldn't do that in a week of Sundays .. I much prefer to be told .. no, make that asked .. what I would like to do .. be given time to get ready properly, to have the right clothes etc .. And one of the nicest things about going somewhere is the build up .. the anticipation and excitement .. and then the enjoyment of actually doing the thing .. I'd suggest no one tries to surprise anyone unless they are 100% sure that it will be the right thing for that person .. there is nothing worse than being given something that you simply hate ..

I do not like surprises, i think it is related to a problem i have in my personality, that i am trying to work on. I like to know things and be in control and surprises are the opposite of it. It seems it is very hard for me to handle surprises. But i do have to say that my friends that know that i hate surprises, did do a few shows for me. LOL. There was one time that they made me a surprise party when i was twenty years old, i was so embarrassed, but they did manage to surprise me with a big birthday party at one of their houses, in the end i can say that i did enjoy it very much. After that time, they decided to do me surprises that i can handle. LOl. that is, one time they took me to the opera to see la traviata, and one time they took me to a show i could not afford the tickets, but i enjoyed very much. So i can say that in a strange way i am scared of surprises, but at the end i enjoy them very much.

I'm like you, I hate surprises! I don't mind them so much if they're along the lines of "I happened to pick up this CD of your favorite group that you've been wanting", or something like that. But, when it comes to big productions and someone assuming they know what I like, it makes for very uncomfortable situations at best-and I would just as soon do without them. I don't really like too much "ado" anyway.

I love surprises. I wish my husband did special things more often. Its a rare thing. I think even something as special as an ecard or a little card or a single flower or a gift card to starbucks or just washing your loved ones car anything is sweet :) Its the thought that counts... And , sometimes I feel like it should be at least once a year and not valentines or anniversary or any other holiday but just because...

The element of a good surprise is it is well thought through and you know what the person would really love! My hubby has sprung quite a few on me he knows what i like and i love the spontaneous gestures . My dad was always fantastic at throwing surprises for his children,i came home from school to the most wonderful party i had been told not to be late as he wanted help in the garden instead all my friends arrived and i couldn't stop hugging my dad. I think yoou would enjoy the right surprise whats good for me probably isn't your cup of tea, i just love being spoilt lol

I love surprises because usually it means the person who wanted to surprise me went to a great deal of trouble to try and make me feel special. Even if it's not exactly something I'm thrilled with in the end, the fact that someone cared about me enough to try and make me feel loved and special is a huge deal for me.

As for me i personally love surprises. I just love the feeling of excitement an thrill that comes when someone is giving us a surprise. Moreover, if someone gives you a surprise, you can atleast be sure that the person really likes you and cares for you. You just have been a victim of bad luck all your surprises haven't turned out to be very good. So, guess its just fate that plays games with you.

i think girls love to have suprise.. but.. to be frank with you.. i don't like suprises.. first.. i think suprise is usually doing something i don't like.. they think it's fun because they thought i actually like it.. just that i don't mention it out.. but the fact is i dislike it very much.. and they're still doing it.. for example.. i told my ex not to do anything for my birthday.. and guess what? she bought a cake for me.. and she send a voice mail to me.. singing a happy birth day song for me.. i dislike celebrating my birthday for several reasons.. and she don't understand it.. well.. i don't blame her.. just to say that i don't like her suprising me.. that's all =

i love surprises. i think it is more thoughtful than just simple celebrations or gifts. for me it symbolizes the concern and thoughtfulness of that person who gave you the surprise because he goes into lengths just to give you something even if he doesn't know if you'll like it.

I don't like big surprises. Don't throw me a surprise party with tons of people because I prefer intimate gatherings. I don't think people should plan surprises unless they really know the person well and know in advance how they would react.

I love surprises, but the only surprise I ever got and it delighted me to bits was when I was sixteen and I came home from school, my Mum got me a thimble with my name on it and it has always been a precious memory for me, oh tell a lie one more surprise was when my Hubby got me a phone dangly thing with the Yan name on it and the Chinese snake of the zodiac as I am a snake, very unusual. I treasure that. I love surprises, especially ones like that, but they are extremely rare my friend. So sorry you have had a miserable time of it.

yes1 I think it is wonderful to get a suprise every so often! Think something nice that you are not expecting can boost the spirits up in a huge way. I also like to give out a suprise to friends and loved ones from time to time too Lynn-Marie

I love surprises honey - well most of the time anyway! Luckily most of my friends and family know what I like and if they surprise me it has usually always something that I like! Apart from this Christmas that is - the surprise present from my other half was a facial solarium ( think thats the right word) like a sunbed for your face! I am very pale skinned and do not tan - I burn! lol Needless to say it is still in the box! xxx

OHH!! i love surprises. I don't get to many of them. I only like the GOOD surprises. The only surprise i don't like is when someone comes over the house without calling first. I have never been to a concert and would love to be surprised with some really cool concert tickets. I've been surprised before but not to the point of face dropping from horror.
