The Jesus Christ of the Bible is not the God the Father

Most of the Born Again Christian groups, particularly the so-called “Oneness group” teach that Christ is also the Father, and they use John 10:30 as their basis. The verse says, “I and my Father are one.” Simply because they read Jesus saying,“I and my Father are one”, they already concluded that Christ is also the Father. Do you agree with this belief? Me, I don't agree with it. Jesus Christ of the Bible is not the God the Father.

Actually there is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost. Jesus Christ is God the son who was begotten not created and came to Earth in human form. He retains his humanity and his deity and is the only one on earth who had no sin. So the Oneness group is wrong since they deny the Trinity and you are probably wrong since you deny the deity of Christ.

Catholics call it "Holy Trinity". Oneness group denies the fact that God the Father, God the Son and Holy Spirit are three separate entities that makes the God Head. But among the three, there is only one MOST POWERFUL God and that's God the Father, not God the Son or not even the Holy Spirit.

There's actually no verse in the bible using the word trinity.. and there's one verse which says the three are one.. and it has to do with being witnesses of the truth.. and these three agree, it concludes, "the Spirit, the water and the blood..(?) To me the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God.. His Spirit which is in all places.. I cannot get myself to think of the Spirit of God as a third.. but is the great Spirit and spark/breath of Life..

Well firstly I do not belong to a born again Christian group, the church that I belong to has been around for many centuries now and God the father is Jesus Christ. So I am sorry that you do not understand this part about our Lord. Have a great day your friend

Denying of the Trinity is actually a heresy. The notion of the Trinity is pretty clearly seen in the scriptures and the early church fathers made it pretty clear that the Three are One.

The Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father are one in purpose. We can see clearly after the baptism of the Lord Jesus that the Lord was there going up out of water and God the Father was speaking from heaven saying that the Lord Jesus is His beloved Son and we can also see the Holy Spirit as a dove descending from heaven upon the Lord Jesus and so they are three and not one. If the Lord Jesus and the Father are one physically then everything is foolishness and God would be lying saying that the Christ is His Son.

It was one verse out of a multitude of others that say things like he will sit at the right hand of his father, the parable of the wretched tenants shows the meaning of "I and my father are one" to me. They are of one accord one thought one purpose. Why would he pray in the garden and say if it be your will take this cup from me? As far as other religions looking down on christians because of this debate what difference does it matter if we praise Jesus or God. If you praise my son who I sent to you to do my bidding arent you showing gratitude to the father also?

I am glad you don't because when Jesus is saying I and the father are one he meant in the way they thought and feel as in John 17: 21,22 Jesus prayed regarding his followers: That they may be one." He used the Greek word (hen) for "one" in all these instances. Obviously, Jesus disiples do not become part of the Trinity. But they do come to share a oneness of the purpose of the father and the son.

Jesus was A MORTAL PROPHET, no more no less. Read Bible properly and find out! Did Jesus deny being God ? WORDS: Joh 7:16, Joh 14:24, Joh 12:49 WILL : Joh 4:34, Joh 6:38, Lu 22:42 POWER: Joh 5:30, Joh 8:42, KNOWLEDGE: Mr 13:32, Mt 24:36, Joh 7:16 STATUS : Mt 7:21, Mr 10:18, (forget others) ============================================= Son of God doesn't mean GOD, because there's other SONS of God in Bible; Moses; Exodus 4:22 Solomon; II Samuel 7:13-14 Etc.; Jeremiah 31:9, Psalm 2:7, Luke3: 38, +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Jesus called himself son of man and refused to be called son of God: Luke 4:11, Luke 9:20 and 21.

hi there! to read bible out of contex is different than to understand it out of contex. BTW, as for this discussion issue ie. your question, I think I've answered it.

To me, this saying that Jesus is the Father, is to say that they are not Two.. whereas I believe they are both one and two.. one in the sense of not only family.. but kingdom.. such as there are many in the plant or animal kingdom, but in the God kingdom there is two.. If the son is the father, who was Jesus talking to the many times He said "Father..." And He also said "the Father is greater than I am" I disagree with both 'extremes' of this debate.. the view that they are only Two.. or the view that they are only One.. With this last as the worse.. unless the view stating they are only Two, is saying the Son is just a human, with no pre-existence with the Father.. :))

The Bile clearly stated that Jesus and the Father are separate entity, but people are trying their best to depend their beliefs according to their groups or congregation.here are different testimonies that proved that Jesus and the father are 2 different entities. Please visit here:http://www.spiritlessons.com/

My view and understanding is purely taken from how I interpret the scriptures. Jesus never said that he is the Father. HE said that he and the Father are one. This is a spiritual reference; meaning, that in spirit they are one. Just like the Trinity, the three in one; Father, Son and Holy spirit. Understand that Jesus Christ is referring to everything in a spiritual context and not in physical context. Just like you find men who have their father's name and surname or just the surname. If the father is John Black, his son will then also be John Black. You and your father are then one in name only, but not in spirit. God is spirit - that's what the bible says. God is not a Physical person, not a man like John Black. Therefore because God is spirit (not a spirit) but spirit; Christ refered to the spiritual oneness. Remember that Jesus himself said to his desiples, "The words that I speak to you are spirit" Because they understood it as being literal. They took it in the literal sense, (as the "John Black" example) Yes, I believe that God the Father is head of the God family, the Godhead, Jesus Christ is the Son - Son of God. He, Jesus the Christ, the second "person" in the Trinity is seated at the right hand of the Father (the first person) and the Holy Spirit is the third person in the trinity. God sent his only begotton son, Jesus Christ to save the fallen, sinful world from eternal shame, destruction, condemnation and finally eternal hell. Consider this; if God, the Father had to die on that cross, we, the world would have been without God for three full days. That would have been enough time for all mankind to fall into anarchy. God sacrificed someone, yes, his only son, Jesus, the Christ. Jesus Christ, the spirit son of God became flesh, the son of man. He needed a physical body to be able to meet man at his own level, in flesh and blood; personal and visable. Because spirit cannot be seen by humans, or by the physical eyes of mankind. I know there are many Christians who totally misunderstand the scriptures, and then weave their own interpretation into it.

You might be interested to read how the "trinity" came to be around the time of Constantine and the Roman Empire. This, and the Jesus myth is based on very similar mythological stories from all over the world around the time of its' fabrication. Here are a couple sources which may be of interest... The Origins of Christianity and the Quest for the Historical Jesus Christ: http://www.truthbeknown.com/origins.htm Historical Origins of the Trinity Myth: http://wings.buffalo.edu/sa/muslim/library/jesus-say/ch1.2.5.html http://northernway.org/pagandna.html I find the evolution of religion, society, and the human mind to be fascinating. Thank you for your post.

I believe that the first chapter of John (John 1) explains the unity between God the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit more thoroughly than in the verse that you have chosen for this discussion. You also may want to try reading through I John Chapter 5. Similar references to these exist. One great recourse for online Bible research is Bible.com.

I belonged to Pentecostal Oneness before during my teens. And it was always my question, if one is already praying to Jesus then why do we have to always put "IN JESUS NAME" at the end of our prayer? The question baffled a few of my friends in the church, including our youth president. Clearly JESUS is not the FATHER. He commanded us to pray to the FATHER in HIS name. That is why when we pray, we pray to the FATHER in his (Jesus's) name or authority.
