Does Tracy McGrady have a strong case for MVP?

The last time I checked, Tracy McGrady was running third in MVP balloting behind Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash. I think the NBA should seriously consider TMac for MVP considering that he carried the rockets when Yao went down with an injury. Compared to when TMac was injured, the rockets stil lost despite Yao putting up huge numbers. The difference is TMac gets his teammates involved directly. Teams automatically have to double team him because he brings down the ball compared to Yao where they can simply put 2 guys on him and deny him the ball. The rockets still had a winning record when Yao came back from injury which is why TMac should be a serious contender for MVP. With Dirk, he gets plenty of help from Josh Howard and Nash has Amare and Shawn Marion to carry the load when he gets hurt

i don't think t-mac could get that high in the MVP balloting. kobe and lebron had a great season and they rank next to dirk and nash. t-mac could be around 5th or 6th in the overall balloting. but if he won't get injured, for sure he'll be among the MVP leaders next season.

I think what got t-mac that high was the constant comparison between the rockets' record with him in the lineup w/o yao and their record with no t-mac but with yao. yeah lebron does make a serious case for mvp. how many games did cleveland win this season compared to last yr?

That 'right .I also think Mc can only be around 5th or 6th.He is good ,but enough .And lebron and kobe do better than him

Tracy McGrady is a MVP caliber player, but the teams he plays on are just not good enough to get him the award.

I agree with you.None can quantify the things Tmac did for the rockets.if there's any season tmac deserves to win the mvp title,it's this year.he's done it all! look at their lineup..except for yao and shane, you have no one else to turn to.the guys got numbers because of tmac and that made the difference that propelled the rockets to the playoffs.it was so obvious especially in the playoffs where the rockets were ousted (yet again) in the first round.Tmac's talent is being wasted there unless they do something about tmacs supprting cast...
