In the age of internate and cell phones , the children are largely drifting away from books and text materials. Their reading habits are sharply changing. Where does lead this trend? What do you comment?

I am a parent snd a teacher. Books can still be very exciting for most children. Picture books can very attractive with good quality text and illustrations. However reading scheme books can have boring text and predictable pictures. Many boys prefer non-fiction and are not very keen on fiction. Most children like the internet. It can be delightful for them. As they get older they can become interested in all kinds of computer games. They will also have a toys like a Play Station. Then in a couple of years time they will have a mobile phone. Books need to move with children as they get older. But after seven years of age they change dramatically and many children''s brains are switched off by this.

Many thanks for nicely responding and sharing your beautiful thoughts.I understand that children need to make the best and productive use of books and internet as well.In this context, parents have a crucial role to play in guiding them in selecting suitable, informative and educative books and internet programmes and features.

Many thanks for nicely responding and sharing your thoughts.I do understand the adverse effects of overexposure of children to internet at very early stage. But, parents need to guide and motivate their kids to make selective, educative and controlled use of such devices.

What is wrong books are replaced by internet as long as children are getting knowledge or stories which they are getting from books receives through internet .infact internet can give knowledge with less time .but children may lose their eyes sitting in front of the computers.books are not going to harm in like that way.but misusing the internet those who are mischeivious always misuse what ever they get in hand.any body can use pen and somepeople use it to abuse it someothers t o write love letters .it depends upon the person who handle that .like that way internet can also be used for good things.
