Do you glance at your cellphone from time to time?

have you ever experienced this situation:sometimes we "hear" an imaginary ring or consider vibrations on a bus are a call, and you frequently glance your cellphone many times in a day, even no one calls you.then i may conclude, that you are addicted to your cellphone. well i am not sensitive to vibration coz i never use it,but once others' cellphone ring,if that is similar to my ring,i will pick up my phone even i know that couldnt be mine. maybe this is what psychologists said,"ringxiety". i know i am not the only one who has that feeling,do you?and i am just wondering why does this happen?

I can honestly confess that I have hallucinating about my phone ringing many times when it didn't ring, lol. This happens to me more often when I am using the vibration mode while I am sleeping ot half asleep. My bed and pillows seem to vibrate with my phone and when I reach for it,the smiley wallpaper teases me,lol.I have to admit that the term 'rinxiety' is a new one for me and a very good one !Thanks:-) Yes,it could be what the psychologists call it.For me it happens most when I am expexting a call from one of my friends and somehow the call doesn't come through. When it happens too often and bothers me ,I put my phone on loud so that I won't have to keep checking with every buzz around me.

Thanks for reminding me!:-)You can be sure that the advise will be meticulously followed.I think fogetting about the mobile even if it rings is a great sign.It means your focus on your work is absolute and that you can't be easily distracted.A great quality to possess!:)

thank you Bluewings.lol, the true reason is:the sound of my ring is too low,and my phone is in my bag,so...i missed it.

it is said that when you sleep,it is better to turn the power off or keep your phone far away from you.i know you know that but just want to say again :) i find it a custom for me coz even i know nobody calls me,i want to check, but when i am busy,i will forget about my phone even it rings, that's strange.

I had chosen a pleasant melody of classical music as my cell phone ring tone and it’s quite rare among other cell phone users so I can recognize my ring tone very well. In this way I need not bother about the ringing of other cell phones around me. I do glance on my cell phone quite often when I’m waiting for someone’s answer in certain period of time. When I’m in a hurry I always glance at the digital clock of my cell phone too.

oh that is really a good method to tell your ring from others, now my ring is the sound of a cut little cat,i think nobody's ring is like mine.:)

The only time I glance at my phone is to check the time. My ringtones are all personlised & I have a differant one for everyone. For the most part I can tell if it is my phone or someone else's ringing. My sister is horrable about checkin her phone. She is always afraid that she missed a call or something & checks it all the time.

yeah, psychologists said people have grown emotionally dependent on their mobiles for feelings of self-worth.people want to feel they are being contacted.it is sort of right for me,i think.

Wow! what a coincidence.I have exactly the same problem and i was even considering to put it up in mylot.Anyway you win yanstill. At times i do feel like i clearly heard my mobile ring or beep after a message. There are times when i go searching around the house for it only to find there was no call or message.I think this is because i am too addicted to my mobile.I am a extensive user and especially eager for any messages from my girlfriend.

I think people who addicated to his or her cellphone may be the persons in love. I am different from you, I always misses some call when I am on a bus or when I walk. Then if I am waiting for a call or look for some place or person, I hand my phone.

i agree in a sense, but not all are like that.i am not.the reason why i glance at my phone from time to time is maybe i have missed a lot of calls,so i have to check, especially on the bus or when i am shopping, sometimes outside noises can easily drown out the sound of my cellphone, maybe another reason is i dont want to call them back lol.

cellphone with camera - cellphone that can take pics
Maybe it happens because you've become used to the ringtone of your phone..it's like you can't help but pick up your phone to check

Yes I do. So far this has progressed to the stage where I am imagining that I hear calls though. :) Thankfully. The reason I look at my handphone from time to time is that sometimes the ringing is just too soft and I end up missing calls or smses.
