How do you type?

While spending hours myLotting, do you use all your fingers while typing, or are you like me, a two finger banger. If so do you use your two index fingers? I use the index finger on my right hand, and the middle finger on my left. Strange, I know but that's how I do it.How about you?

I use all of my fingers to type so much faster. Hubby does the one finger deal. Sure helps to be able to type with all of fingers cause can get a lot more discussions answered that way. You will need to practice and do that way.

Yes, I did think that was one of the reasons I don't get as many discussions answered. I think if I was going to practice, it would have to be somewhere other than myLot, otherwise I'd get even less done!

I'm very lucky as I can touch type, which I learned at school. It means I can type without looking at the keyboard and use all my fingers. It has helped me a lot to be able to do this as it makes typing and using a computer faster. You can learn to do this for free here: http://www.sense-lang.org/typing/

I vaguely remember having to do typing in high school, but I guess it didn't really help. I guess people who type quicker do get a lot more done. Thanks for the link, by the way. I guess some old dogs can learn new tricks if they try.

Hi muscare, the topic you choose is interesting, i used all my fingers while typing most probably don't have to search the alphabets in the keyboard now. Actually 5 years back, i have taken a coaching in typing, as we know the keyboard of typing and computer's keyboard is similar. It is due to this that my typing speed is fast now but the used to index finger is very less.

I think I know now where most of the letters are, although every now and then I have to stop and search for a less used letter.I'm not a quick two finger typer, though I think I'd be even slower using more fingers and then having to go back and fix all the typos!

typewriting - I am not a quick typewriter
Hello, muscare,I tyy to type with both hands with five fingers, but it seems that i do not get use to this type of tyoing method. Most of the time,I just type with three or four fingers.May be that is the reason why i do not a quick typewriter, i can only type 40 words per minute with alot of typos.lol.

Well, I'm a pretty slow 2 finger typer, but I think I manage to avoid too many typos, however I think there would be plenty of mistakes were I to use any more fingers!

Im a fairly good typer and use both hands to type and for most of the time i dont look at the keyboard whilst typing. Been using a keyboard though for many hours each day for the last few years so speed increases the more i use it.

Well, I think my 2 finger typing has got quicker, but I don't usually see the screen until I've written a fair bit. I guess I'll always be fairly slow though.

I used my ten fingers because it has it's own function... even though i'm not that fast to type atleast i can exercise my fingers...

You're not a fast typer with ten fingers, but I bet you're a lot faster than I am with my two. At least I get some exercise with 2 of my fingers!

The best thing I ever did was to learn to touch type at college and get my RSA in typing, it has benefitted me so much through life, and it has helped me so much and it comes in handy especially for Mylot! So I have a good speed when it comes to typing, and thus don't need to look at the keyboard when typing.

I'm very envious, I wish I could touch type. I spend most of my time looking at the keyboard, and only at the screen after I've finished a sentence. I guess it's never too late to learn, but I don't seem to get a spare moment to start.

I used all of my fingers to type, and I can type about 100 words a minute. I tend to hit the space bar with my left thumb, and when I need to use the touch pad on my laptop, I use my left index finger. When I have to use a computer with a mouse, I'm totally lost. LOL

Wow ! 100 w.p.m. That's good! I probably do about 100 words per hour. No just kidding, it only feels that way. I'm afraid I'd be lost without my mouse.

You must be doing pretty good. I do remember having to do typing for a term in high school, but I didn't get very good marks. I think you can guess why!

I love to type so I'm able to type with all of my fingers and not have to look at the keyboard. It's not the hard to learn but it does take alot of practice. I have several family members that do the two finger typing thing so you're not alone out there.

Well, I guess I get plenty of practice here, but I could just imagine strings of gibberish appearing before my eyes as I type. I think I'll probably always be a 2 finger type.

i type using only seven of my fingers. it's kinda odd considering that the standard typing practice is by using all of your fingers. but, the good thing about my style of typing is that i don't compensate for it's speed...

Seven fingers. That does sound kind of strange. Which 3 do you miss out? Is it the little fingers and a thumb? I think if I tried to hit any key with my thumb I'd get a couple.

Well I guess you're still using 5 more fingers than me. The thumbs are quite cumbersome really.

yeah, it's kinda weird. i always miss out using my two thumbs because the're kinda heavy on the keyboard. i also miss out using my right small finger. lol.

myLotting really helps you with your typing skills, so, I use my all fingers, not just here in myLot, everytime I type something... I let my all fingers do their jobs.

Well, I have noticed the speed of my 2 fingers has increased a little. The rest of my fingers just don't know what to do!

They are, because you are using just two fingers... Try to put all your fingers to work... that is easier.
