So I am starting the Slim-Fast diet today, where I have a Yummy shake for breakfast and lunch, then a LIGHT (and small) dinner. I am not too excited but I need to lose 10 pounds or I will be miserable this Summer. I want to play around outside with my kids and not feel like a heffer. SO has anyone tried the Slim-Fast diet?? I hope I can stick with it and lose some pounds, I am exersicing too of course and drinking lots of water-yummy!! Any tips from others that have tried this? I will appreciate ANY help/advise/tips whatever!! Thanks!!

I was on the Slim-Fast diet after my first child was born. That was 14 years ago. My husband started it a couple of weeks ago, along with an exercise program, and he has lost 20 pounds. I started it a few weeks ago but I have a shake for breakfast and a Slim-Fast snack bar around noon, having lunch around 2pm. Sometimes, if I am too busy I miss the lunch but always have the snack bar with me. I am supposed to be walking too, but do get too busy to find the time. I have lost five pounds so far. Someone mentioned the stomach issues. We found that it gave my husband gas (so he stopped and is now exercising only). I found that I do feel bloated and gassy after the shake. I take acid dophilus in the morning and that stops that from happening. Acid dolphilus is an immune booster for the digestive system. I take it anyway because I have IBS. Because Bob Greene has endorsed Slim-Fast I have found both the shakes and snack bars to be on special a lot lately. You really should exercise along with it though if you really want to lose the weight.

I have been exercising before I started the Slim-Fast, ans I still wasn't losing weight so I figured I needed to cut back on what I was eating as well as exercising. I will have to try the acid dophilus because the shakes leave me feeling nausouse!! I just drank a liittle at a time yesterday =) Thanks so much for your tips!!!

Hi! Congrats on taking the first step! I started the slim-fast diet in Feb of 2007 but couldn't stick with it for long because it also upset my stomach. But, I still managed to lose 30 pounds in roughly 2.5 months simply by limiting my calories and fat intake. I kept a daily journal, ate 6 times a day (2 snacks and 3 meals, all before 7 pm..nothing after), and did not allow myself over a set amount of fat and calories a day. Also, I only drank water and Crystal Light;) You would be amazed at how much you eat and don't realize, especially if you ever eat out! Oh, and I didn't really do much exersisng....I intended too, but I just couldn't get to the gym each morning.Good luck!

I do have a problem with night time snacking, but I don't drink anything other than water. You don't need to go to the gym to get the exercise you need. Just go for a walk. Any kind of exercise will help even if you start off slow with just walking around the block. Also, I have an exercise ball. Did you know that just sitting on the ball and bouncing up and down stimulates the lymph nodes which helps detoxify the body? Any up and down movement does that, and swinging your arms around.

i would suggest doing the south beach diet instead. i lost 10 lbs in the first week. it is easy to stick with too. slim fast gets expensive and you dont lose too much weight too quickly. good luck!!

I'm doing south beach too! :) I like it a lot. I was drawn to it because it was created by a cardiologist and I have hypertension. As you said, it's really easy to stick and you just eat regular food. I'm learning a lot about the foods that aren't right for me, in terms of my blood sugar and how my body uses those foods. I now know, too, that if I eat bread, I might as well be eating out of the sugar bowl LOL It'll do me about as much good. I've lost about 19 pounds on it so far. Good luck with your goals everyone, no matter which way you tackle 'em! :)

I used that diet about four years ago, and it definately helps. I just had the shakes and bars for bkfast and lunch, and had a regular meal at night...you have to exercise too; but it definately helps. THe only thing I don't like about it now is that it is so darn expensive- can't afford to do it anymore.

I have tried this and even sent off for the ring binder with all the info on it and the diary to help. Unfortunately I found the fibre was too much for me and it really upset my tummy. If you can stomach it then you can lose loads on it as it is all calorie counted which makes it easier for you. You will lose your weight much faster and keep it off if you walk 10,000 steps a day. You might need to work up to this number but once you have you will see the difference in your fitness and weight loss almost straight away.

I tried it once a few years ago. I did lose some weight but not a whole lot. I had to stop drinking it due to the fact that it was making me passout. Im not really sure why it was doing this to me but I had to stop cause it statred to scare me.

Never had any good luck with Slim Fast. Try a stationary cycle. It really tones the legs and butt area--great for swimsuit season. Just use sensible eating habits. Last summer I ate nothing but salads and lost tons of weight. Just be sure to add a good source of protein like grilled chicken, or tuna or canned beans. And, cut out the meat. That works too. I'm still working on getting rid of the pregnancy weight, but those ideas have worked for me so far. It just takes time.

Hi, Congratulations! You just opened a new chapter in your life! I am doing the way with you! I keep on a diet and exercise everyday. There is a saying that, "A woman what want getting older gracely, she has to be slim". I feel this is so true! I never want myself to be strong or somthing, so I just want to slim. It's hard, right? Some much delicious food we can not eat too much. I also have an advise for you. You could dring green tea instead of water, that's help of losing fat!

Hi, I have tried the slim fast diet and managed to stick to it fairly well. I found the weight loss was very moderate and I did not have a whole lot of success. That is the bad news. The good news is that I have been on my own invented diet since christmas time and have lost 62 pounds! The diet is very simple and is accompanied by working out for 1 hour 3 times every week. Quite simply, I have raisin bran in the morning, an apple and orange for lunch, 2 Lean Cuisines for supper, and a bowl of raisin bran for my before bed snack. When I started this I was 232 pounds. I am now the same weight as I was in University at a trim 170. I am sure it won't work for everyone...but it did for me. cheers
