I have a fun way for you guys to use freetranslation.com that I found entertaining and great to see the outcome. I just write a little piece of a sotry (or anything I can come up with). Then you copy paste it into the box at freetranslations and pick a language to change it to. Then copy paste the translated box and convert it back to english using the scrolling tab. Like, if you picked english to spanish to convert it first, change it to spanish to english. It changes the story and sometimes makes it a funny change. Heres and example of one of mine, I have a few though. The wild stallion raced across the wide, green, open fields. His sharp whinny soared across the blue sky. A herd of mares came racing around the rivers edge. A beautiful white speckled mare led the others. They reached the stallion, and all of them ran, full of life and freedom. The wild stallion raced over the wide, green, open fields. Its sharply whinny upwards wing has itself over the blue sky. A herd of the mare is push come itself racing around the rivers. A speckled mare prettily knows led the other. They reached the stallion, and everyone is, run full of life and freedom. I converted that one to german than back to english.

Your converted GERMAN to ENGLISH one translated into Spanish: El semental silvestre compitió sobre el ancho, verde, abre campos. Su bruscamente relincho hacia arriba ala se tiene sobre el cielo azul. Una manada de la yegua es el empujón se viene compitiendo alrededor de los ríos. Una yegua moteada sabe con gracia dirigió el otro. Ellos alcanzaron el semental, y todos son, corren repleto de la vida y la libertad. and back to ENGLISH again: The wild sire competed on the wide, green one, opens fields. Its unceremoniously I whinny up wing has on the blue sky. A herd of the yegua is the push comes itself being of concern around the rivers. A yegua speckled knows with grace directed the other. They reached the sire, and all they are, they run full of the life and the liberty. Interesting... just those few translations have made it almost unreadable already! LOL

Hi, I am used to such things because it is part of my daily bread. I am working in translation, and the changes effected by translations are sometimes impossible to avoid. For sure, human translation makes the difference, at least the merge of mistake is not as huge as with machine translation. The human translator can take the initiative and decide for the most suitable translation, machine cannot do that. It is based on a software which only recognizes few contexts. Before you get to the second step of your funny trick, focus if the translated text gives sense (u need to have some commands of the target language : german in your case) Ooops, I forgot to tell you that I found the idea very creative and also funny ;)

That does look like fun. You could run it through several languages before going back to English and see what happens. Do you know the site Engrish.com ? They have examples people have sent to them of signs and packaging written in English by people who are not native English speakers.
