How many friends do you have? Do you know what type of friends you have: Here is a list of type of friend that we normally have : 1. Takers - Either sub-concious or conciously, takers are interested in friendships for what they'ss get out of them. As the name implises, takers take advantage: they're the ones who borrow things wihtout returning them and expect your support without recprocating. This person may be too self-absorbed to uphol his end of a friendship. 2. Betrayers - A betrayer is perhaps the dysfunctional friend who's the easiest to detect. He is the one who lets your confidences slip, flirts inappopriately, breaks promises, and talks about you behind your back. he may be motivated by low self-esteem, which he attempts to remedy with a power grab at your expense. 3. Drama Queens - Like takers, drama queens are always friends in need.., and more need..., and more need after that. Moving from crisis to crisis is the way of the drama queen, and you'll find yourself playing psychiatrist for this type of friend in any relationship. 4. Bosses - The dirver's seat is exactly where this type of friend is most comfortable. With his dictatorial style, he makes decisions large and small in your friendship, and he can become smothering in his need to control elements of your life. His controlling behaviour may also be exhibited in pasive-aggressiveness designed to manipulate you. 5. Complainers - Rarely is anything good enough for this friend. Negative, critical and disspointed by life in gneral, he usually can find a way to make a bright situation dark, an his world view influences you to look at things the same way. However, if one of your long time friends is a little more negative than his usual chipper self, he may just be emotional. if you find yourself in a friendship with someone who exhibits any - or a combination - of these behaviours, your next step is to evaluate the sitation. Is it beyond tolerable? is it something you could work on with this person and maintain the friendship? Remember, friendships do require work, and when they're in balance, they should make you happy.
