I'm curious your views for or against calvinist. If agaisnt, what are your concerns on the biblical doctrine of predestination and election?

Sadly I fear I have found this discussion a few years too late, but it really is a great topic because Calvin REALLY is a good subject to get into and people often missunderstand his contrubution to the theological world. There are some points he goes off the rails on-there are some points which he was correct on, and what many fail to understand is that his views on election actually did not originate with him but go back as far as St. Augustine. His views re. faith as a Grace, do express St. Paul's thought very well-and it is sad that most protestants do not understand Paul's writing on this "by Grace you have been saved through faith, not of yourselves, it is the Gift of God"-it is seen in positive terms, that nothing could thwart God's saving act...and that is how Paul intends this. Now, where Calvin kinda goes off the rail, or where some have gone of the rail with him is in the idea of what is...uh, wow, my comment just got really long:)
