I have noticed ticks on my dogs lately and thought it was a bit odd this early in the season and figured they had so many because I didn't see the other ones. Well now we are finding them all the time. My daughter had one on her back this afternoon when she came inside. Is it just because we moved that I am seeing more or have others seen more then usual too? I have no clue how to get rid of them if they are just at this new house so any suggestions would be great. I am also not well versed in how to remove them from dogs or people so any suggestions on that would be great as well. I really hate these things I hope it isn't going to be an all summer event.

Ticks come out in spring as soon as there is a bit of sunlight. They stay until it gets very hot in the summer, and they pop up again in fall until freezing. They live in bushes and do not have eyes. They feel temperature and sweat. They would never jump on a frog! One should cover ones arms and legs to avoid that they get in contact with skin. My dogs get a flea and tick collar when the sun comes out in February or March. I pull out a tick with a special pair of plyers and I put kitchentowels on the floor and the tick in between and then I step on it and burn the towel then.

I haven't seen any ticks yet but I'll be on the lookout now. We have two dogs so I'll be checking them everyday.

i live in the southwest. and usually we get a a good number of ticks during summer. but oddly enough for the last 2 years we've hardly found any on the dogs at all. the things are truly disgusting though. we always end up flushing them down the toilet when we find them! lol

augh, ticks are horrendous out here. we get them year around - even when there are several inches of snow on the ground my dogs will come in with a big ole dog tick on them. We've been picking them off of us daily - thankfully mostly before they become too attached *grin* to us. boy a tick bite sure does itch something fierce. The worst are those blasted seed ticks we get in the summer time.... you think you have a patch of dirt on your leg from rubbing against something, then all of a sudden that patch of dirt moves! the ticks are so small you do not see them as individual creatures - but a blob. they are like the size of coffee grounds. Guineas are great defense against ticks. but I do not think we can get enough guineas to take care of all these ticks!

I understand your feeling.Because your situation is the same as mine. All the menbers of my family tried their best to solve the problem. From the monent, the best solution that we thought is that cut off the hair of dog then pick ticks.Of course the best time is in summer.I know it's cruel to it. we tried a lot of ways ,but no one worked.Even though i don't like pets, I am sorry to see their facial expression of pain and sufferings.I think I am crazy.
