Well, my granddaughter is back from school camp and guess what? Yup, you got it... she thoroughly enjoyed herself. She was showing me the place on the computer and telling me all about it, even down to where they parked the bus and entered the building initially! lol.
She was showing me an adventure playground with all kinds of wooden climbing structures and so on, in it. Apparently they went on quite a long hike one day, to a lake, and they were hoping to see some animals on a farm, on the way, but she said "All we saw were some cows and horses... it was boring." lol. She liked the lake however, even though it was a "loooooong, long walk.":-) Don't you just love them?
Then, she was telling me about a camp fire they had and they were all singing. This was a bit garbled because she was excited, but apparently, she and two friends started singing really fast and had everybody in giggles!!! I remember doing that at Girl Guides camp.... I wonder where she got it from? lol.
Ok... I guess that's not a difficult question!
Anyway, as suspected there were lots of hugs and smiles, and she said she would go back another time. lol. I think we miss them far more than they miss us on such occasions.

What do you think Mummymo? Of course, I looked forward to the hugs... I was so pleased to see her back, and learn that she'd enjoyed it. She hasn't been herself just lately... hasn't been eating too well or anything. But today, she ate a big plateful of dinner and almost all her dessert, so I guess now the trip is over, the nerves involved with going away from home alone, have gone. :-)
thank you for your response and Brightest Blessings, my friend. x

Hi Darkwing, oh well your granddaughter sounds like she really like her school camp it is wonderful when our grandchildren can share with us what they enjoy!! Oh boy that hike sounds like it was extremely long for her and tiring lol!! I also remember doing this when I would go on school camps those were some of the most precious times in my school life and we sure learnt a lot when we went there. Oh I do believe that your granddaughter must be a lot like you when you were young. Yes I am sure that we miss them when they are not with us too xx

Well, she's certainly a live wire, Kathy! ha ha ha. I hope I was like her when I was at school. I couldn't act like she can at her drama classes, but like her, I was ok at gymnastics, even though we didn't have such good facilities then, and I learned tap and ballet, whereas she does modern dance, but she seems to have a natural talent for most things.
This natural talent includes making friends, and I think that's why she got on so well at Camp. We all missed her so, naturally, but there she was enjoying herself and probably not missing us at all. lol.
Thank you for our response and brightest blessings.

I think it is a really good thing for them to go to camp or something like that , teaches them to be more independent , I know what you mean about missing her though , My youngest granddaughter went to Italy on a school student exchange a couple of years ago , she just used sign language and never learned any Italian lol , I was like you I was drinking in everything she told me , I was seeing it through her your eyes , your granddaughter looked so sweet with the bubbles ( I take it that it is the same one ) I often wonder where all the love comes from that we can share between so many of our family and yet it still stays as strong , enjoy your granddaughter my friend as they grow up so quick xx

Oh my... you lost me now. I don't know of any pic of her with bubbles. lol. I didn't post one of her!
She has grown up pretty quickly. She's nine and a half now but there's a big gap between her and her sister because she wasn't really thought of until my grandson and her would be brother was lost to cancer. So, her sister is some six years older than she, and grown up now. I think the little one misses her company, and the company of her friends who have recently moved away. She seems a bit lonely at the moment, so the Camp probably did do her good.
Thank you for your response my friend, and Brightest Blessings. x

Oh, you are such a dear, dear person, Darkwing. Your grandchild must really be fortunate to have such a nice grandmom. You are perfectly right about us missing them far more, than them missing us. I have a four year old nephew, who is in my hometown, with his parents. I miss him terribly. I had been to my hometown a month ago, after a long time, and I was wondering whether he would be shy around me, but no! He was really warm and sweet. I spent most of the time that I spent at home, with him, and I miss him even more now!!! Kids are such, you know. They grow up before you even realize it. Kids a minute, and the next thing you know, they have grown up!!! Sigh! Makes me thing about the time I myself was a kid, not too long ago!!!!

Yes, they most certainly do grow up very quickly... more quickly these days, it would seem, than when mine were young.
I think your sibling and their spouse must keep you close in your nephew's heart, and at four years old, it's surprising how they remember people who are good to them, and indeed, the people who are not so good. It's a time of testing for them in the first five years, and you obviously passed the test, my friend. :-) I'm glad you enjoyed your visit.
Thank you for such a sweet response. I always appreciate your input... Brightest Blessings.

I am not sure about your granddaughter, but I too enjoy school camps. My parents never like the idea of me going to the school camp. I find school camps fun then because we have complete freedom away from home. Though there are some discipline to be observed, we still have our freedom to do what we like, away from the house's nagging that we cannot do this, cannot do that. That, I guess is the most important reason why I like school camps, of course, my parents never get to know the reason :P

It was her first, Why, and at the age of 9 she hadn't stayed so far away from home before, but she enjoyed it, so all was well that ended well.
Lol at you not ever telling your parents the reason for you liking Camp.
Thank you for your response and Brightest Blessings.

Yes, I think you're right. She now has two sets of photographs which she took in the two days she was there. lol. She showed me on Sunday and they were very good. Lots of her friends too. So, she obviously enjoyed it.
Thank you for your response Lakota, my friend, and Brightest Blessings.
