How did you decide you childs name?

Just a little light hearted question to bring back memeories. My husband and I named our last child in a kindof fun and unique way. We decide that if it was a girl her first name would start with A, like my husband and her middle name J like my first. If it was a boy his name would start with a J, like mine and his middle would start with and A like my husbands first. With the twins it was different as well. He pick out twin A first name and twin B's middle name and I did the opposite. It made it a lot of fun and it seemed to make it a little less stressful.

Well with my daughter when i was 9months pregnant i was watching s3x and the city and the name Shayla appeared in the episode on a pillow, and when i had my girl the name popped into my head and so i named her that, With my second pregnancy it was unexpected and me and her father had a disagreement on whether we should keep the baby or give it up, so to make things a lil easier for him to accept i let him pick the name and we had a lil girl so he chose Avery because it couldn't be shortened and given a nickname.

With our eldest daughter we chose a first name that we both liked and then for the middle name we both picked a name that we liked , it ended up that her name spelled our a short form of her name as her nickname with her last name . This started a tradition with all our children . Each one of them has a name that we both picked and then the middles names are names where we each picked one but some how there name becomes a short form of their nickname . And with each one of them there middle name was used as someone to name them after . For example if we had used the name Alexandra then the first name would have started with and A and then the middle names would have started with an L and an E and our last name would have been an X with the nickname as Alex . This is not one of the names we used but an example of how we named our children and one of the middle names would be them named after someone who meant a lot to us so they would be named after them also :)

My husband and I named our son after many discussions on names and when it came closer to the due date we were still no where, then one day we were watching a tv and there was a show that had one of the hobbits from the lord of the rings talking about the film and we liked his real name which was Dominic so we looked up the meaning. and that was it.

Both of our children were given names that we've found in books. By doing so, we were able to know the meaning behind the names that we've given. However, we made it a point to name our children according to the first alphabets of our first names. So, the girl will follow my hubby's, while the boy will follow mine.
