Finally found a Christian devotional that I like....

I've spent a long time looking for a devotional book that I would like. I knew that I wanted something that was once a day, wouldn't take too long but would still be relevant, included everything necessary in the book so I wouldn't have to haul around three and flip between. But the biggest priority was finding one that didn't dumb things down and make me feel like the author thought I was 13 years old. That really annoys me. Anyways, it's called "Faith Alone" and it's a nice little hardback book that has a page for every day of the year, and each has a verse and a few paragraphs by Martin Luther about a theme from the verse. It's intelligent, relevant, and won't fall apart on me either. Have you found a devotional you like? What makes it work for you?

The local church here where I meet has been using "The Holy Word for Morning Revival" since 1990. It is published as an aid to believers in developing a daily time of morning revival with the Lord in His word. Each book is usually good for 6 weeks on a particular book or subject of the Bible. Each week contains an outline and a hymn and each day contains selected verses and a short reading material (half a page), and a longer reading excerpt (about one and a half page) and concludes with a short list of reference books for further reading. However, it should be noted that the selected reading portions may be a little deep for some teenagers which may require some to go into the listed reference books for a fuller explanation. Each locally printed 100-page paperback copy costs a dollar here.

good for you, but even a doctorate-degree theologian may find this material richly enlightening for its post-doctorate writings, it is surely not the average daily Christian devotional material. If you are interested, I can send you a copy of the earlier issues we have finished reading.
