Can you ever be too old to learn anything. Learning comes naturally...... and we keep learning all our life........ then why do some people think......... "Is'nt he too old". I am 30. And, I can not swim. I have joined this swimming pool and paid the coach to teach me swimming. I have been going their for almost 4 days now. And, everyday I hear those very young kids whispering...... "Ai'nt he too old to learn swimming" ? No ways....... I would not let them affect how I take my swimming classes. But, I do not think someone should attach "age" as a factor for learning something. Has anyone ever told you that you were too old to learn something?

Obviously. Learning has no age. Don't see on your age. If you are no one will laugh at you when you learn at an old age rather you be an example to say Learning never ends. Don't bother if anyone whisper rather ask them to help you and they will. Learning gives you knowledge which is the key to health and wealthy. we got the life which we should enjoy the fullest, learn whatever unknown to me depending on availability and possibility. So go on with your swimming. Swimming is a very good exercise.

Hello kukkad. That's true learning is a continuous thing. It is the goal of education and the product of experience. So it's too bad if they say you are to old to learn new thing. You can still learn anything you want if you pursue it diligently. So I say age doesn't matter. Keep up what you are doing. I'm also taking piano lesson with my children.

Absolutely not, you're never too old to learn anything. As a matter of fact you get wiser with age. We learn new things everyday now matter what age. I was just reading about an 80 year old women that took parachuting classes and then jumped out of a plane. If at 80 she can do that then I think at 30 you can learn how to swim.

There is no such thing of too old too learn something. I'm 31 now, and I would not feel bad or down if I want to learn something usually especially when others at my age already mastered it. And I'm still learning how to blog right now...:)

No, i haven't encountered someone who told me that i am too old to learn something...I guess, when you are a kid, then it's just like normal to say that one, when you see someone that you think is old already, then you can say those comments..

I believe that age is not a hindrance in learning. Everyday we learn new things, new ideas from our own experiences and from other people as well. Living or life is a learning process, whatever it is that we encounter as we go along. Whether we like it or not, we encounter problems, trials, difficulties, and from that, we learn something. The need to learn more skills can not be stopped if one person likes to do it. Learning makes a person better.

I think for your case it's not too late to learn swimming or other new physical avtivity, Like me I'm also 30 and don't know how to swim and don't want to learn it either..why?..cause i don't like it...lol.. Although there's 1 thing i'd like to learn but haven't got the time or chance is how to drive..it's so ridiculous that a man of my age doesn't know how to drive..lol...

well, physically, when we do get old, our bodies also deteriorate, and physically we are limited when it comes to learning. but who cares! learning is about the inner drive in ourselves to improve, to somehow develop into something different. learning ceases only if we ourselves feel that "we're too old to learn" - and that's the most stupid thing anyone can think of.

There was an article in the news this week about a woman graduating from college who was officially the oldest person ever to earn a Bachelor's Degree. She's 95 years old, and a great inspiration. In an interview, she told reporters that she doesn't even think about her age when she's deciding whether to do something or not. All of us have something to learn from that. I've had the opposite problems sometimes-- I was sometimes told growing up that I was "too young" to learn things-- too young to read challenging books, for example-- and although I think it's important to protect children from disturbing material, I think it's as silly to tell a kid they're "too young" to learn something as it is to tell someone they're "too old" to learn something! Good luck with your swimming!

You are never too old to learn. we are constantly learning every day. Those who think they know everything are the biggest fools of all. You keep going with your swimming lessons. Kudos to you for trying something new. Ignore the kids and good luck to you.

i think its depends on the persons mind. if you think your mind is get old then u become old otherwise its wont. i know the person who is in 90s where studing amd making resarch i think he will never agree that he is old because his mind is always in 40s that why we can say if we getting old its due to way of thinking from us . if you think you are old you will be old .

Thats right. And, I do not understand why others have to think that way. You learn every single day in your life. Maybe, what I knew being a 10 year old kid....... those kids do not know. I d not think its correct to tag someone as too old to learn anything....... :) Thanks for your response...... :)
