Calcium is a vital nutrient required by the body for strengthening bones. After a certain age, loss of calcium starts taking place and it is here where the consumption of calcium becomes all the more important. Also the intake of calcium is of prime importance for the growing child. Because most people don't get enough calcium, they're at increased risk for osteoporosis, or a weakening of the bones. Nearly half of all women and about 13 percent of all men will suffer a bone fracture because of osteoporosis during their lifetime. Although calcium intake is one of the most important factors in bone strength, there are other ways to strengthen - or weaken - bone. Good nutrition and weight-bearing exercise help strengthen bone.

My doctor has be taking a calcium supplement in combination with vitamin D because apparently the vitamin D helps with the absorption of the calcium. Taking calcium helps, but you really need to take vitamin D along with it.

Yes, I give much attention about calcium intake. Every woman ahould take sufficient calcium when her age increase to keep safe from disease causes for want of calcium such as premature hair browning, teeth falling, pain at joints etc. A pill of 500mg each day keep health good at old age and cow milk is best.

i am keen on my calcium intake. since i don't like the taste of powdered milk, i sometimes resort to drinking fresh milk or i take in calcium supplement tablets. i am conscious of my calcium intake because i am on a trying to conceive stage where i make sure that all my "necessary" vitamins should be taken into consideration.
